Upper coolant connector fix!

Well I feel I should say first time poster long time member. A bit of background I have a 2013 Clubman S Bond Street edition.
6 speed with 89k on it. I went to change my oil and while moving the coolant tank the plastic T section of the coolant hose cracked. I started researching and found the OEM required changing the whole hose assembly (priced from 95-145). I thought I remembered a previous post a way to replace the T portion of the hose but I couldn’t find the details. So I first removed the part of the hose connected to the thermostat. Then I used a thin flathead screwdriver to remove the molded plastic end of the fitting that was broken(the part inside the hose basically crumbled) and cleaned it out. I did the same with the upper t part that connects to the turbo. Then I headed to Lowes and found a brass SharkBite 1x1x3/4 reducing Tee in the plumbing section 5.99. Went to Advanced Auto and bought some hose clamps, a pack of 2 larger for 3.29, and a pack of smaller also for 3.29 and a gallon of Euro Coolant for 21.99. Connected the 3/4 upper part (that connects to the turbo)first with the smaller clamp, then the hose that connects to the thermostat with the larger clamp and lastly the hose to the coolant tank. Tightened everything up refilled the recovery tank and all seems good.

Some tips, I removed the upper pipe that connects the turbo to the air cleaner, along with the pvc pipe. Since I was changing the oil I kept oil filter out, that made pulling the hose off the thermostat easier and putting it back in easier too.

Tools-Small Flathead screwdriver, and hose clamp pliers.

Actual time to complete 45 minutes including drive time for parts.
