I'm not a fan based on the photo... looks like a PT Cruiser and a MINI had a "love child"

I do like how the grill is let into the bumper...nice! That is, assuming the grill's appearance hasn't been excessively obfuscated.

Van

The extended version looks so much like a freaking van (careful NOT to use the term MINIvan). I hope that's an option, not the standard if it does in fact come to production.

>I do like how the grill is let into the bumper

It looks like a panel is attached to the front to dupe people taking "spy shots"

I like it. Depending on price, I think it will definitely be a nice alternative to the other small sportwagons out there.

Well, they might as well strecth it a little bit more and put rear doors , there you go, a stationwagon. On the other side, these spy photos always look ugly, but I hate the idea of screwing the brand for making more money ... Leave the Mini alone, if we want stw, we buy Forrester .

Thats as dumb an idea as a 4 door porsche

The thing must weigh a ton! I saw this picture in one of the car mags last month. They would need 250 hp to move it. I don't believe this would ever be produced by MINI. What next a MINI stretch limo?

I don't think it's supposed to be. I think it's supposed to be the new estate.

I would say that it is pretty definite that they are going to make this. THe original mini expanded into many different forms: clubman, estate, pickup, moke. This MINI will most likely do the same and for good reason.

Finally I can pack all my kids and my day of shopping into my mini.

Not a huge fan of the old estate so this would be no different. I do like the RX-8 doors for the four door option.

I'm all for any variant that MINI puts on the market (wagon, pick-up, all-wheel drive, roadster/speedster) so long that the variant has those unmistakeable charateristics/habits of a MINI...

It's must be TINY, (the term "mini" is an abbreveation for miniture or minute).
It must have a "clamshell" hood, a "snub" nose and a "plant-on" roof, (roof when applicable).
It must have it's wheels postioned at the extreme corners.
It must have that "Bulldog" stance. Make that a "Fat" bulldog.
It must be a "quick" performer.
And it sure as hell, better go around a corner like PAC-MAN.

We hate SUVs and Minivans. My wife loves her MINI but wishes to have a 5-door wagon that retains all the characteristics and goodness of her MC. the MINI EXT is the ultimate "Middle finger" anti-suv statement and will bring back folks with families into the MINI fold. Why the heck people with kids have to be forced to drive boring, inefficient behemoths??? The MINI EXT will redifine the concept of truly FUN and TOSSABLE family sportwagon in a compact package. Bring it on! MINI doesn't need to pay attention to the "MINI only 3 door hatchback" Ellitists

Can't wait for a MINI EXT "S". Yeah baby!!!!

I know this is a gripe with the next generation MINI in general and not with this variation, but man that bulbous front overhang is disappointing. I can't help but think "proboscis monkey" every time I see it. Yeah there's cladding and whatnot, but the underlying lines are pretty clear.

Hey, hey, heeey! What's wrong with that? It certainly gives the Mini a bit more versatility for those of us who need the extra room.

I have a PT and although it's been a wonderful vehicle (thus far) I would love the Mini but I would have to give up that functionality. The EXT is the best of both worlds for me!
