Can rear fog lights be installed after delivery?

Hi,
I was thinking of installing the rear fog lights and asked my dealer about it. They told me they couldn´t find the part number on their lists, and are not sure if it is possible. Does anybody know if they can be installed?

My dealer said it would be "like $300 if I wanted to install them later" but that was during the sale....not sure if the numbers are legit or not. Hearsay, and all.

I don't recall seeing cut-outs on the bumper for where they go, but it doesn't seem like it would be a big job. If it's like most of the electronics, it's pre-wired.

Yes, I believe the cutouts are there with blanks in them. and the wiring harness already has the wires there. All it would entail is to mount the appropiate switch plate with new additional switch on your dash column. (by the dealer of course) unless you know how to take the dash trim appart. I am in the process of installing my own OEM driving lights, its a learning experience , however I almost got it completed.

I usually don't mess with disassembling things (that are mine, anyway). I prefer to have a professional do it, so I can have someone to blame. But, if you are inclined to do it, I don't see it as a difficult job. You would probably have to have the dealer program it to work, though.

Rear Fog Light Part #s

Can't find anything for the switch. The overhead toggles are one unit... don't know about the lower ones.

The short answer is no -- not w/o significant dealer assistance. The fog lights can be mounted, and the toggle switch can be added, but the car computer needs to be reprogrammed. Apparently the software on the new Mini is of similar complexity to the new BMWs (think 7 series). All the toggle switches are programmed into the computer and have to be recognized to operate. I know it doesn't need to be this complicated, but it is.

Wouldn't it make sense if the rear fog lights turned on with the front fog lights? Save a console slot... share a switch.
