I like the size of it because it makes the whole car look more and more like a kid's toy. I think it is garish, but that is just the reason why I like it.

I have the Nav system as well, and love the integration between Phone, Audio and Nav system. I used to always replace the factory head unit in my car with my own (having given much money to Crutchfield), but the itch to do that is gone. May still replace the speakers though, still on the fence on that one.

That's another reason I like the sat nav system. The controls beneath the speedo were taken off and put somewhere else.

I'd agree that the new speedo could have been better integrated into the top of the dash, as it was in the R53. As you said, not a big deal. I think that if my car ever actually shows up, it won't bother me.

Personally, I'm not a fan of a center speedo and would've tried to get an R53 with the chrono pack (I think that was the package) had I gone that route, so I'd have the speedo on the steering column.

I bought my MCSc with 12K on it, loving everything about it with the exception of the chrono package that it has. I really wanted the center speedo (this car was too perfect to pass up). But now that I think about it, I think it may have been a good thing that the speedo is above the steering column- less distracting perhaps.

Yeah, go with that...your car sounds great!! Lots of folks were convinced they could never have a car w/ a center speedo because it's not "normal" but they need a little imagination, imo. Fact is, one adjusts...and that rather quickly. So there really isn't a right or wrong to the whole thing. There are benefits to one...and there are benefits to the other. Lots to love either way!!

Why not just drive with the digital speedo readout on the tach? Does the same thing, right?

Frankly, I don't even notice it. I know it is bigger than the previous models, but I look at the digital ouptut on the tach. However, I am annoyed when my 6-year-old tells me how fast I am going as she looks at the speed limit signs and then the speedo. But I think that would be the same even with the older editions.

I don't often look at the speedo, but use the digital read-out in the dash. Belle isn't broken in yet, so I'm not using the cruise control and need to watch the speed traps in town....

I don't mind the large speedo - just adds to the uniqueness.
