I just talked to one of our MINI Techs, and he said that he is not able to make them any brighter. But that is not to say that it can not be done! We have some pretty industrious people who drive MINIs.
Orange, Harley Orange. toolazy, we need to find the name of that vendor...ya know, if we just get the bulb type I bet we can buy a replacement at autozone for $1. Might go check that out.
I like to alternate between purple and blue depending on my mood, but my step son likes amber since it matches the dash, so he alwasy asks me to change it when he gets in.
I finally made the full transition to red last night.
Last summer I replaced all the cabin lights with
red LEDs. But, it wasn't bright enough for me.
I since replaced the foot well lights and the overhead
lights with the red 1 W wide angle LEDs from
plasmaled.com I had to cut the aluminum housing
down to fit the overhead light. It's bright enough
now that it glows in the day. When you open
the door I mean.
Funny thing about purple--I've read that it is the color for "wishy-washy" personalities.
This is something that really bugs me. This country is so backwoods that everyone is trying to *spot the gay guy* Well the mini is suppose to be the gay car, and if its playing house music then thats the gay music, but wait, if the ambient lighting is purple or pink.... well that completes the cliche right there. Thats BS!
Theres nothing wrong with purple and pink and I wish people would stop labeling colors as having to do with this.
The BLue is very dim in my 09, I wish it was brighter. The orange is the brightest.
I use blue myself unless if I'm in the mood for orange or purple. Not enough color choices IMOP.
That's funny, but after reading everyone's posts yesterday where the general consensus was that blue was the brightest, I played with my lights on the way home last night (mine's an '07).
And I came to the same conclusion as you: on my car, blue is the most vivid (most "saturated"?) color, but it's actually the least bright. Purple is a little brighter than the blue, but more "watered down". It seemed like the colors got slightly brighter as I moved thru magenta, pink, orange - and orange was definitely the brightest by far.

Hey man, don't sweat it. I sold my supercharged corvette and then my lifted and supercharged H2. Now I drive my mini. I hear comments all the time how I'm not driving as manly a vehicle as I was.
I don't care, I love my mini, if someone thinks I'm gay, **** 'em, they obviously don't know me.
Blue here too.... it matches my Laser Blue. It matches my X50 radar detector and XM radio.
I just wish you could change the dash lights to blue....
Technically speaking, Laser Blue is more of a cyan then a deep blue. I actually really wanted a Laser Blue mini but they only paint the S versions this way and I didn't want an S version.... Ohh well :/
I very much wish Mini made a _bright_ interior LED wash light system for every shade of mini paint scheme they make with a seperate dimmer **** to control them. As a lighting enthusiast I found myself very disappointed that more thought wasn't put into this.
