strange: my 2009 S's AL is dim, can hardly discern it beyond orange. But the 08 justacooper loaner I have now (while my JCWtune kit is being installed) the AL is VERY bright, you can actually SEE the darker colors that stand out!

 

On my new '09 MCSa I decided to set the AL to orange to match the gauges but found it rather bright and distracting at night while driving so I switched it back to the mellower blue color.

 

I usually keep blue on to match the car.
Orange is my second favorite because it matches the dash.

My colors change weekly- depending on my mood!!

 

Orange to coordinate with the dash. I would use a different color if I could change the dash color as well.

 

Blue for me. Matches the lightning blue very well and it looks fantastic. I wish it were a tad brighter.

Usually mine are blue because as others have said, it's very soothing. Other times, I'll set it to pink (because this way, each item glows a different color- the two lights are pink, door handle is blue, door armrest is purple, and airbag cover is orange).

I love the option to change the ambient lighting!

I would have also liked the option to change the colors of the speedo/tach/stereo (blue would be neat!) but I have no complaints with the orange, it's easy on the eyes.

 

I use pink because its awesome.

 

mine usually stays on blue.. My ambient light is bright and with my dark tint it traps the light in the car and gives it a cool blue glow through out the cockpit

 

I like blue but my girlfriend always changes it to pink/purple when i am not looking!

Also, I'm sure most of you know this but I'm gonna throw it out there since no one has mentioned it.... The amber dash lighting is a BMW signature trademark. They have always had that and probably always will. Not saying that changing it to match the mood lighting wouldn't be cool, but that's probably their logic behind it, heritage & tradition.

 

I miss the purplish/bluish dash in my v-dubs.

I set my AL to violet. It is a complementary colour to orange.

I'd like to add some more LEDs around the cockpit, could I just wire them into the same circuit?

 

I use purple.
I have an all black interior and velour floor mats with reflective trim...the purple looks like a black light and really makes for a trippy ride. lol

Mine is currently blue (or is it a purple-ish)..last week it was that reddish-orange.

 

I usually motor with blue, but occasionally switch to purple or orange. Like others, I do wish the dash lighting could change to match the mood lighting.

 

I like blue too. I also changed out all the lights except for the map lights to blue LED's.... Looks pretty cool at night to me!

 

I was messing with the light this morning. Orange goes together with the gauges but I still like blue all the time.

Just a quick question tho... The lights in the handles and above the seatbelts... Are these supposed to change also? Cuz in Rigby they dont...

 

They are! You should get that checked out. Having them all change makes for a much better experience.

Shoot it. Ok... Well Rigby goes sin for a check up on the 18th this is something i will definitely be inquiring about.

 

do these new fangled mood lights come in the factory cars? I've got a '10 model on order and don't remember ever seeing this on the miniusa website or in the car they had at my dealer.
