Reading over these bits is interesting.
Overall, I also think that a lot of things are “better” on the new car.
But since its launch I still have to read on ANY forum a really enthusiastic grin filled post about owning one.
All I have read is “good”, “better” and “improved” … but no “holy s**t this is awesome” … and this is what’s lacking with the R56

Errr, the logic just seems pretty off on that. We know people love their MINIs, or no one would be hanging out here in the first place. If the issue is that there's not a huge "holy crap" factor in the R56 over the R53, that's because the R53 was a great car and the changes were intentionally subtle, nothing you'd hear that kind of comment about (w/ the exception of the S, and I have heard some "holy crap" for the turbo changeover, but that being the minority)

Every time I get out in my car I think holy s**t this is awesome! It's a great car. I absolutely love it.
I find myself extremely tired of R56 vs. R53. I'm always tempted to get in the conversation and say they are both awesome. Why do we have to compare in a judgemental way? It's interesting to talk about the differences and to know what they are, but tiresome when there is such a need to be better.
I bought an R56 because that's what's available right now. I was finally(!) ready to buy a MINI and that happened to coincide with the new R56. My love of the car grows directly out of attraction to the R50 and R53. I would have bought whatever was new when I needed a new car.

Yeah. I did not post this to incite comparisons. I think there has been a lot of jaw dropping, knock your socks off, enthusiasm and I just don't get where this person is coming from.

I totally loved Astro on the racetrack with Hoosiers! It was without a doubt on-par than my rediculously modded single-turbo R53 on "wet condition" R-compounds. The R56 MCS is impressive on-track mostly due to the huge torque area-under-the-curve and amazingly neutral and adjustable chassis. Thumbs up!

I test drove the 2006 Cooper S and then the 2007 Cooper S. No contest, I bought the 2007 the very next day.
I used to ride my Harley Deuce to work every day. I have had my R56 for a couple of months now and have only rode my Harley to work ONCE since.
HOLLY CRAP !!!
I can't wait to get this thing on the track.

first time poster….
I damn near crapped myself in the demo car when the torque steer hit. There is a reason this thing is called the 4 crotch, crotch rocket.
I would love it more if my wife would let me have it back. It was supposed to be the replacement for my truck that threw a transmission. Now she drives it every day and I get the grocery getter….WTF!
