R56 Confused after test driving a Cooper S

It's funny how leaving a word out of a sentence can alter the meaning soooooo much. Me and my typos left 'heavier' out of the "Add a rear sway bar" part. OY!
I would like to lower Romi about .5 inch at all four corners though. All the lowering kits seem bent on dropping it 1.5 inches. I am guessing those would compromise the ride quality considerably, but that is a guess.

Re. 17" wheels .. 1. I like the way they look, I think they give the car a more balanced look. 2. I've never had anyone riding in my car ever comment on a hard ride (but then again, I have the Goodyear all season runflats).
I just left the car wash a while ago and it happened again. This time, just as I was getting in the car to drive off, this big texas sounding guy asked that I not get in yet but to wait while he checks out the interior. Okay .. I waited. To make a long story short, I think he and his wife will join the ranks of Mini owners. This kind of thing happens all the time - no exaggeration. If you want a car where everyone will just leave you alone, don't get a Mini. Personally, I like all this attention. And, amazingly, those who approach and comment come from just about every segment of society you can name, teenagers, people in their 20s, people in their 50s, a guy in a really beat up looking car (says he wants to buy one like mine), an 87 year old lady (at least that's what she said), a big guy in a work style pick-up, people from the symphony concert crowd - fellow season ticket holders, pretty girls, and on and on. These are strangers who approach me out of the clear blue. God I love this car.
Caveat: These interruptions don't usually happen when the car needs a bath, it's always within a few days after I've given it a good wash. And I suppose I should also mention that the car wash finishing guys always seem to give this car extra attention - it seems to be a respect thing (for the car).

Must be the area of the country you live in. Romi will be a month old next week and no one has ever approached to ask questions, make commentary, or even wave.
I think peeps around these parts are still trying to figure out if it is a car or an armored armadillo.

Have you also noticed trucks and SUV's cannot stand being behind you? I think they are afraid it is going to poop on the road in front of em.
I have had trucks curb hopping to get in front of Romi. I had one cut in front of me at a stop light for crying out loud. Came up from behind, cut to the left, then immediately poked its grill inbetween Romi and car in front of her.
I have never witnessed such fear and loathing being levied at a car before. It is really wild.

I think I know what I want now...
Thank you for everyone's input. Today I finally got to drive a Cooper S with sport suspension and 17" wheels. To my surprise it didn't seem to be harsh at all compared to my very first test drive of an automatic MCS with 17" wheels but no sport suspension. This leaves me to wonder: (1) If the tire pressure of the 1st MCS with 17" and no sport suspension were over-inflated and therefore causing the surprising harsh ride, or (2) an automatic MCS somehow just have harsher ride than stick MCS (the one I drove today was a stick). Regardless I think I'll order my MCS with the 17" sport package and sport suspension.

I guess you right about me addicting to the MINI! In search of a replacement daily driver I've been researching the BMW 335 coupe, Infiniti G37 coupe, and the MINI cooper S.....And I found myself keep coming back to NAM reading about the 2007 MCS over and over.....part of the reason is I'm tired of driving a car that attracts too much unwanted attention (muscle cars, Honda ricers, etc all wanted to race my Sti, and cops that can't wait to see me going above 1 mph over the speed limit and give me a ticket) and I know I'll get the same kind of street race challenge too if I'm driving the 335 or G37. A Cooper S on the other hand is more like a "cute" car that will probably go under other street racers' radar....or is it just my wishful thinking???
