I've done some searching on the forums, with some mixed results about the 2008 MCS release. Some mentioned August or October 2007, while others said Feb/March 2008. Anyone have anything more concrete? Also, would that be order date, or arrival date ;-). I was hoping to be able to order Aug 2007, and receiving in Oct. TIA for any input.

Usually the US Model doesn't arrive till Feb/March timeframe...

 

I've been told by an MA that it's they'll start taking orders in Dec for Jan delivery for the coupe and Feb for the convertible.

 

Since production changes over in August, does that mean they're going to stop taking orders for several months? (July-December???) That seems highly doubtful. Are you sure the MA isn't just trying to drive '07 sales?

I've been told by an MA that they will take orders in October for a December delivery. But I also believe that an MA will push you to buy NOW!

 

I wouldn't expect big chnges in the '08 MCS...the Clubman and the new cabrio will be the big stories.

 

I was looking for a car with LSD. I've been told by two MAs that LSD is included, and is just software, electronic, worked by using the brakes.

A half-hour later, I'd convinced them what LSD was. Then they'd never seen it, and they look at "all" the build sheets of the cars that come in.

Test drive... hmmm... right there on the sticker. And the next two cars over.

I don't take the word of all MAs as gospel...

 

Mini doesn't do a very good job ensuring that their dealers' MAs and technicians are adequately trained.

It's a little disconcerting to have to teach an MA or (far worse) a Mini technician something fairly well-known about the Mini...

 

I got a response from a MA that said Dec or Jan. Wish Mini would just announce. According to the article on MF, it seems like it would be orderable in Aug for Oct delivery, but that was in Munich, so dunno how that translates to US.

 

The VINS are the clue to 08's. Look for 08's in the UK in August, a couple of months later for U.S.

 

They won't be running two different model years on the line at the same time. If production is shifting after week 31, I can't see how it would not be all production at that point.

 

LOL, the MA's are right up there with the dudes in the Tmob/Verizon/ATT stores when you ask them about upcoming releases of cells (typical response is "what's that?").

 

The dealer that told me Dec for Jan and Feb delivery for the convertible had a meeting with a MINI USA rep later that day and by coincidence I called earlier to ask about when the 2008 models will be available. So the I had the MA ask the MINI USA rep. But who knows how accurate those dates really are.
