First Flat Tire

Today, first flat tire. I ran over something while on a trip for work and 5 minutes later all the flat-tire indicators starting going off. So I pull over and hear a noticable hissing from the rear right tire. Sure enough, I could feel air escaping. Those runflats are pretty neat though, was able to drive all the way to the dealership (20 miles tops) at 50mph.

Anywho, I forgot that I upgraded to the really nice run flat tires....priced at $280 a piece. Oh ****! Well, this will be the last runflats I'll buy. In a while I'll move on to regular performance tires and keep a repair kit in the boot. Yikes!

So the dealership put me into a GMC Envoy since Bob Smith didn't have these Dunlop RFs in stock, and, well, damn it sucks. I took a corner heading back to work doing what I would normally do in the MCS and suddenly found myself in the other lane. Yeah, Mini handling is badass.

Looking forward to having Miles back.
It was good however that all the neat gizmo technology in the Minis works quite well. And it handled pretty good on that flat. Albeit the steering was just a tad sluggish but what could one expect.

And let me guess: Bob Smith is gonna sell you another $280 tire to replace the nearly new one that had a nail in it. I may have put the wheel in the Envoy and taken it to a tire place myself and had it fixed in an hour for $15, grabbed lunch, gone back to Bob's and had them put it back on, but that's just cheapo me....

good point... may flats are fixable these days, I would have at least stopped by a local tire shop. Will the dealer charge any labor fees?
