Yeah for Yellow new to me 07 MCS, 16k, loving it so far!

New to me that is! 07 Justa Mellow Yellow with black roof and black racing stripes! 23k miles.
What is the deal with the yellow? it doesn't seem like there are many out there.

 

My understanding from the dealer is that Mellow Yellow makes up less than 5% of the total worldwide production run while the color was available. I don't know how accurate that is because I haven't confirmed it with MINI USA yet (which I just might do now) but considering since Cary joined the family I've RARELY seen them (certainly less than I'd say 10 or so) it wouldn't surprise me.

Mine is an 08 MCS I purchased in 2011. This is the most fun car I have ever owned and I don't think I will every sell it!

Figures... I contacted MINIUSA and was told "We appreciate your interest in acquiring sales and production information. Unfortunately, our policy does not permit us to release this data." They wouldn't even confirm or deny it's simple rarity compared to other colors... Well, considering the few Mellow Yellows I see I have no reason to doubt the dealer. Has anyone else ever confirmed Mellow Yellows rarity? I'm on a hunt now...

 

One less MY for now. Hopefully she wont have tantrums and she'll treat whomever picks her up better.

Dang, here I was thinking how happy it makes me to see this thread bumped to the top but this is a downer. What happened MiniBOL?

 

My MY was a lemon. Got my $ back for it after driving it for about 2.5 years and went and got JCW PW/CR last weekend. Sorry to leave my fellow MY'ers - rare breed but am loving the new color combo.

 

1. That sucks. Even worse that the lemon was yellow. Ok, that's kind of funny actually.
2. You need a new sig pic.
3. Yay! New MINI!
4. Too bad MY wasn't available, new yellow is just weird.

 

Since I don't have my MY anymore, I'm selling my MY paint stick set for $25 - shipping included. I also have the M7 Cf shift **** for sale $50 - shipping included. No pics on the **** but it is almost like new condition. I can take pics and send em if y'all are interested.

 

I just bought a Mellow Yellow and I love it!!! I have been looking for on for awhile and it was love at first sight.

Thought I'd upload a couple of pictures of my new MY.

I always wanted MY when I lived in the UK, but it never quite suited the weather, so I had to go for black instead.

However, now I'm in SoCal, MY looks awesome

Hopefully over the next couple of months I'll be adding spot-lights and OEM navigation (once I acquire all the parts).

Hey Gary Cooper I did the same research but went A step further. You are right mini USA was no help. I email Oxford and got an answer. You were right it is 5% total. I have Buzz who is a JCW with matching roof. They told me that the JCW was 1% of total. If you go back a couple of pages on this thread I posted this info. You are right it is one of the rarest colors. Love Buzz and will never give him up.

 

Awesome - Thanks, Finz!! Great information! Cary too is family and we'll never let him go. I knew MY generally wasn't common (guess we're all just a bunch of bold, happy pilots!) and that dealer's info certainly seemed to ring true. It's nice to get that confirmation how small a merry band we all are. Motor on, fellow Mellow Yellows!
