If I wanted a MCS by May or June 2008?

Assuming the worst and say I don't get a "slot" for the first order at LB or South Bay Mini to have it shipped in June to the dealer ~ when should I order it?

-Another future mini owner...soon to be college student who cant wait

- and who would much rather get a mcs than any other car in the world minus a few exotics...

That depends on where you live. If you are on the West Coast you can expect a longer wait time due to the longer shipping time having going down through the Panama Canal. It also depends on the demand at your dealer, they may have a waiting list.

I placed my order on May 11th, my MCSa was born this morning (it completed production). Now I'm awaiting transport. I'm expecting another 5 weeks once she ship leaves the dock. When I order mine in May, I was told it would arrive late August to early September. I think I'll get it slightly quicker but the estimate probably wasn't far off.

The best thing to do would be to check with your dealer shortly after the first of the year. One of the MAs should be able to let you know the current approximate wait time.

Yup I'm in Southern, CA; Can't get much more west coast than that :P
Also the two dealers I'd order from, both the closest two my house likely have the highest lines now that I think about it as they sell for MSRP (W/O) markup

From your thread's title, "If I want a MCS by May or June 2008", are you talking about a 2008 MCS for May/June next year right? I think 90 days is usually the maximum wait for Southern CA. If you want to be safe, order it by the end of Feb or beginning of March. Right now I was quoted by all the dealers in Los Angeles area for 60 days, but next year could be different.

For a 2008 MINI we do not have a wait list yet meaning the time that it would take to get you a 2008 would be when ever the factory starts production on the 2008 plus about 6 weeks as that is the time it takes for MINI's to make it across the water and to sunny southern california. If you would like to place a deposit and be the first person on our 2008 ordering list feel free to call or email south bay MINI I can be reached at 310-939-7154 or amanda@southbaymini.com

KEEP IT MINI!

As far as we know we will be ordering 2007 Models (and we do not have an official production month for the 2008 models yet so this is all based on assumption and how MINI has worked in the past) through October. We are assuming that after October being November production we will begin to order 2008 Models but I will confirm that today and let you know what our factory rep says

KEEP IT MINI!

Dude, the 2008 models suck!!! Get 2007 R56, they are much nicer!!

Ok, couldn't resist!! Seriously though, why a 2008 model, is it the model year your looking for, or is that when you will have the money and/or need for the car?

Is there anything in the 2007's that we are hoping will be worked out in the 2008 models? Or any new features in the 2008's rumored yet?

I'm looking to buy in the same timeframe. And I don't mean to hijack the thread, but would a 2007 purchase after the 08's come out be of better value?

not necissarily we did not do any type of discounts when we had 2006 models and 2005 models on the lot at the same time as it was the same car... at that time there may be a discount or something on the 2006 model other than that I do not know of any thing that will make waiting to get a 2007 model when the 2008 model is here benificiary. i just spokw with one of our factory reps and he said that we will start producing 2008 models as of December 2007 so December will be our first production month of the 2008 model year.

Keep in mind that MINI launches its car in two markets. Our european market gets the cars first then we bring them to the states... But you can order the 2007 now and it would be here the end of august first week of september...

Something you'll learn later on in life (after college) is, you will NEVER have "enough" money.
