R56 LSD advantages

Eeeehhh.... sorry, but you have it backward.
This site can probably explain everything a little better: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/differential.htm

I think an edit is in order, so as not to spread even more confusion over the differential!

Yeah, my '02 MCS with a 15% pulley could have used an LSD. It was not difficult to break traction with one wheel in almost a straight line in 1st or 2nd gear. And when autocrossing I was getting max inside wheel spin accelerating out of corners, even with r-comp tires. In regards to torque steer, I'm hearing that an after-market engine damper helps considerably.

Wow lots of talk....
ON THE NOTE OF TORQUE STEER.
LSD are use to reduce torque steer and increase traction out of corners, what you fee instead is the drive line biasing torque this does not alter the steering angle. To feel a perfect OEM FWD LSD setup with zero toruqe steer, get a Integra Type R and try that.
Torque steer in all cars is caused by UN-equal length drive shafts, offten in FWD to copensate for the offset differntal housings they use intermediate shafts to ensure the CV joints and drive shafts are the same positions/lenght. The mini has equal drive shaft lengths so it should never have torque steer. 2000 Nissan Sentra Spec V does have alot of it tho. Perhapse what people feel is the result of Allseason tires+ 192 ft.lbs or torque + Open Differ and DCS all fighting for part of that Friction Circle.
When you feel torque steer you get it in all low shifts of the gear and the steering wheel will snap on you. Much like when you aftermarket wheels have too much offset for your kinping angle and you get torque seer from the road.

Not to pick on you, personally, Bhatch, but I've got to address something that bugs me every time I see it. A regular non-4wd car without a LSD is NOT a "one wheel drive". I understand what people are getting at when they say this, but it's misleading to people who might not be familiar with how differentials work.
cheers.

You may think being tugged toward oncoming traffic by torque steer is inconsequencial or even exciting, but it's no joking matter, my fellow Madame Butterfly friend.
