I had a foreign car place put mine on after I took delivery of the Clubman. Charged me $89 even though it took him longer than expected. I know he was enjoying looking over the car during his work on it plus he said he wanted to do the best job possible.
I got screwed by the dealer having to pay $121 for them even though they are listed at $100 (Back and front) on the official parts department list. They said the Clubman parts cost more. Total BS as they are R56 parts.

It helps a lot though in keeping the back cleaner. Not sorry I did it at all.

Not sure if they qualify as "mud flaps", but they were a requirement of the German "Technical Inspection Authority", when I got my new alloys installed.

as addition a teaser, so to say

PS: those - IMHO useless - mud flaps I got will be "accidently falling off" sonner rather than later

I installed the front and rear mud flaps/splash guards on my R56 a month or so ago. Installation was a cinch, but the rear flaps required some modding. The innermost hole on the flap lined up with a larger, deeper hole in the wheel well. I couldn't use the clips and screws included so I had to go to Lowes and get some other hardware.

I also used a Dremel to cut a slit in the felt liner on the more exterior screw. I pushed the clip into that slit and screwed into the clip.

I will try to take pics and show you what was up against, if anybody's interested.

The clips took a fair amount of force to get on, but they worked for me. I didn't have any problem with the holes. My problem was that a body shop had detailed the rear black plastic wheel wells and the tape didn't stick.

I recently installed flaps on my 07. I did one side and was not able to do the other side for several days. Much to my chagrin I was not able to detect any difference in the amount of gook that was deposited on the sides of the car or on the rear. I am disappointed. I toy with having a flap of some sort across the whole back end in an effort to cut down on the deposit on the back window.

Seoulski,

Thanks for the mudflap pdf file. I've ordered the mudflaps along with the driving lights and intend to install both myself once my '08 gets here.

Anyone have the installation instructions handy for the driving lights?

Best Regards!

I would guess that you've never owned a station wagon, van, or other square-backed car. They tend to generate an airflow that hammers debris onto the rear. Mud flaps are not enough to change that.

There are enough screws to hold it on without the tape. The tape itself is fine, if you do everything right. You need to clean the plastic really well, especially if there is a silicone plastic protection on it. That stuff is difficult to remove. I didn't bother and my rear flaps are staying on fine.

Installed mine last week using the instructions posted here. Removing the wheel and having an extra set of hands really makes the backs a cinch to install.

I didn't have any problems getting the tape to stick on the fronts or the backs.

I just used the clips like a nut on the back flaps. Punch hole push screw through and thread on clip nice and tight, checked yesterday and everything is still snug.

The dealer install costs haven't changed. My dealer told me just over $200 for installation. I laughed and said forget it, I'm not paying that much for a $68 part. They tried to give me a line about how much work it is because the wheels have to be removed. hm, MINI wheels must be special because I've never known removing wheels to be difficult.

I wonder how many people these ridiculous installation charges work on. Must be a nice racket for dealers.
