Also do not forget to reset the trip odometer.

I log the numbers for each gas tank in my travel log, plus manual calculations for MPG. My book shows ranges from 29.2MPG all the way to 42.6MPG. I have it all in a spreadsheet at home and cannot recall the overall average. But Romi has about 2,200 miles on her now.
I'll do this as well just as soon as I hit 1200 miles.....from the last fill up, I got 28.8 MPG with some freeway driving.
Thanks fo the post...

The mileage on my R56 MCS had been dropping over time and was down to 29.5 mpg, by both the computer and actual (no error). On preparing for this past weekend's trip to California I found my tire pressures down to 30 psi. I brought them back up to the 36 recommended for 17" tires and my mileage immediately jumped up. The average for the 1,600 mile trip was 32.5 mpg with much of the trip driving in the vicinity of 80 mph (cruise set at 79.5 by the GPS - speedometer says 3 mph slower). I'll start checking my pressures once a month now rather than once a quarter as I had before (seems my runflats lose air with time - more so than with other tires I've had over past decades).

P.S. The difference in tire pressure makes a heck of a lot of difference in how quickly the steering responds to steering wheel movement .. much more so than on other cars I've owned (Audis, Saabs, etc.).

P.S.S. On pushing that button at the end of the left stalk to check various stuff while driving .. when checking mpg, just hold the button in for a few seconds to reset it.

It's aftermarket, the Nuvi 350. When you touch the arrival time box you get a readout of, Overall average mph, moving average, maximum speed, total time since trip reset, moving time, and stopped time.

MCS Auto with 1,300 miles. Around 28.6 average but lots of grid lock traffic in So Cal and more spirited driving in town to make up for frustration. Just got to use the sports button and I assume this dosn't help milage.

Here are my results so far MCS, probably 80% freeway miles and fairly conservative driving style only play it loud on the on ramps once or twice a tank full. AC on all the time and 30% sport mode.

OBC 34.8; Calculated 33.0; 13.71 gal 453 miles
OBC 37.2; Calculated 35.4; 14 gal 495 miles
Changed to 17" 215 non run flats from 16" run flats at this point. FYI
OBC ??? Calculated 33.5; 12.36 gal 413.5 miles
OBC 33.6 Calculated 31.9; 12.67 gal 404 miles
OBC 36.0 Calculated 34.5; 11.66 gal 402 miles

So you can see my OBC runs about 1.5 mpg in the direction of wishful thinking. Also my speedo is off a little as well reading high but I guess that is typical.

First Tank...

First Tank (MCS), 384 miles, 12.8gal = 30mpg. OBC=31mpg

Hit reserve (red two lines) at about 369mi, so only drove 15miles then put in the 12.8g's....

Edit: Oh, probably 85% freeway... a lot of spirited accel, almost all under 4500rpm ...

Mini Cooper

Mini Cooper actual mileage from 12 to 700 miles (break in): 36.3 MPG (computer's calculated mileage 39 mpg).

Mixed spirited driving: 30% mountain passes in Cascades, 50% high speed (60-80mph), 20% city.

Last 2 tanks have been 35.9 and 36.1 both with the AC on. Mostly hi-way driving. Without AC, I usually hit 37-37.5.

I have about 5100mi on the clock, avg speed for the first 5000mi was 41.4mph

MC to Aspen,Co (a wedding, too)

Just finished a wkend trip Denver to Aspen, CO. 495 miles, 34.72 mpg. Now have 1400 miles on MCSa MY. Probably 50% auto-cruise at 80mph, a lot of high-end torque (90mph at Georgetown) up several mountain climbs. Had I driven like granny, probably would have gotten close to 40mpg (but then could have bought a Buick instead).

MC was hot car, until some dude drives in with his Testorossa (see photo) at the Inn at Aspen Sunday morning. All was not lost, as he stalled it trying to impress everyone leaving.

MC & heavy rain coming back. I got a little concerned on Vail Pass when it was raining very heavy. Not too sure how the MC responds to hydro-planing.

Overall MC hanled well on it's maiden voyage to the mountains.

Dave

PS: In 500 miles, never saw another MC. Let's get this MC's out!!

LASTLY: Traffic back to Denver area not worth it. I-70 from west side of tunnel (2pm) to Floyd Hill 2+ hours.

thats good some good avg. MPG.
Curious how the elevation plays into that.
I just did a 500mile trip this weekend. Avg. of 32mpg.

By the way the pic you attached is not a Testorossa. that is a lamborghini gallardo.

2nd Tank!

2nd Tank: 390 miles, 13 gallons = 30 mpg. OBC says 32mpg this time.

Probably 75% highway, 25% city, not much stop-and-go traffic... some pretty spirited takeoffs....!

MCS 35.6 hwy

MCS. 1307 miles on odometer. 38psi in 17" run flats. Consumption over a just-completed 743 mile trip (from home in Santa Cruz to Lassen National Park) was 35.6mpg. I expect this to improve with more miles.
