100 octane will only aide you, if your car is tuned to run on 100 octane. putting 100 octane in your car just to do it will not help much

Try it. It definately makes a difference in the R56. I usually mix it about 50/50 with 91 since thats all we have here. I don't care what people say, it makes a big difference in the R56. I had an R53 before and did not notice any difference. Maybe it has something to do with the ECU allowing more timing and boost with the turbo.

I use 100 for track days now. I'm not on my third engine and don't want to get a fourth. I do dirty dirty things to my engine for long periods of time. If you do also you need to be running 100. It's not for the performance but for its ability to not allow premature detonation. That makes pistons and rings break. Trust me on this one.

It depends wether or not its leaded or unleaded.
I wouldnt suggest using leaded gas in any car newer than 1981. Leaded gas such as Cam2 (109, 112 and 114) will mess up O2 sensors and Cats.
Unleaded high octane (over 94) will help out in high compression cars, or cars that use a forced induction power adder.
I run 100 octane TurboBlue in my GTO and the Impulse. It gives me piece of mind when I crank up the boost past 20 or 25 psi on the Impulse knowing that I dont have to worry about detonation because of bad fuel.

The "leaded versus unleaded" is a good point. There's a station in Virginia Beach that has 100-octane and 110-octane for the same price, but the catch is that the 110-octane is leaded, and isn't legal for street use.
I think the 110-octane leaded at that station is illegal for street use even if you have an older car without a catalytic converter - it has something to do with the fact that the price doesn't include the taxes that are added for gas that's going to be used on public streets.)

The way to get around the legality of running leaded race gas in a street car is to dispense it into a container before putting it into a vehicle.
The gas stations that sell CAM2 here will not allow the gas to be pumped directly into a vehicle, and they have a larger spout on the nozzle to prevent it.
