2008 R56 Pricing?
Hi All,
Just wondering what you folks are thinking about the pricing for the 2008 models. According to this article on MotoringFile.com, the 2008 convertible MINI's are not going to receive a base-line price hike (note that they're still the 1st gen body style for 2008):

The part that troubles me is that if you look closely at the official pricing PDF that's given in the article, you'll see that nearly every single option and package has increased by $50 to $100 (with the wheels going up by $150 and the nav system going up by $300!).
So... I'm just wondering if those prices hikes will carry over to the 2nd gen MINI's as well. If so, it might be a great time to get in on a 2007 MC/MCS before the prices go up in the 2008 models (especially since there doesn't appear to be much changing in the 2008 model for the 2nd gen cars). This is especially true if you're looking to get a loaded up MINI with lots of options.
Any thoughts?

@Need,
I agree. Since the gen 2 nav system already received a $400 price increase (and since it is indeed way over priced as compared to other car makes), I doubt that it will see a price hike for the 2nd gen cars. However, I wouldn't doubt it if all the other options/packages changed to be the same price as the convertibles are. And if so, that could easily add $1,000 to the price of a loaded R56. Ouch!
Just one more reason to be glad I ordered my loaded R56 as a 2007 model.
EDIT: Oh, and BTW, I don't see the price of the nav being any worse that of the outrageously priced $2,000 leather seats. Now THAT'S what I call RIDICULOUS. I'll be the first to admit that they are super cool looking, but nowhere even close to being worth 2k IMHO.
EDIT #2: One more thing to note, my friend just bought a brand new 2007 Toyota Tundra and it came with a really sweet nav system that included a huge touch screen, voice control, bluetooth integration, radio integration, and a reverse camera. The price of the package was something like $1,600. Those exact same set of options on the MINI (i.e. nav, Bluetooth prep, and PDC) would cost $3,050. WOW! MINI is definitly taking advantage of us MINI buyers on that one.

@Bor,
The PDF pricing for the convertible clearly states that the prices are effective as of September 1st, 2007. However, it appears that MINI has put off releasing the 2008 models until December from best I can tell/gather. Thus, I doubt you'll see the MINI USA web site update until late September or early October some time.
My guess is that the new Clubman model pushed everything back, but I could be wrong.
