Both MINIs I've had ('03 and '07) required a trip or two to sort out little things. Both cars ran great, never was left stranded...just a niggling little thing or two. Was'nt a problem as I have a MINI dealer in town and, since I moved, I could now walk there!!

Also keep in mind that maintenance is covered and you'll need to make trips for that. If you are crazy about MINIs it should be no problem, but if you have a simpler option you'll have to consider that.

Realistically, dealers (even at MSRP) make very little of their profit from new car sales as a percentage of total margin. A decent portion of thier profit comes from used car sales but most comes from service.

As a result, any dealer would view your car as an opportunity to make more profit. After all, they get to charge MINI/BMW for all that warranty work and the dealer scheduled maintenance. Take it to your closest dealer for service!!!

[quote=uzun;1756553]OK, here is the latest situation: I am so tempted to order an MCS right now. I have built a custom MCS on the MINI website with an MSRP of around $28,200.

Its good that you shopped aroud. If you can get a discount youd be silly not to take it. As for problems I havent had but one major. The 07 S windsheild seal is not the best. Most people in the States wouldnt ever know it but at 110 mph it howls.....BADLY. Understanding that the dealer is 2 hours away is just something WE MINI owners except. Not so different if you own a Maserati or Ferrari. To own a "different" car there is factors We just have to accept. You know the Volvo factory deal where you can pick your car up in sweden? Does MINI have anything like that? I got a special deal on mine through the US Forces. it is loaded minus Harmon Kardon, auto, nav. get this......25 Gs They didnt want to negotiate at all, thats what our discount amounts to,

I have it at the dealer for repair of a very minor dent and replacing a weather stipping. Today it enters it's FIFTH week. They do not have parts for the 07.
The dealer (Vista, Ft Lauderdale) won't buy it back because in the words of the used car manager: "we have had too many problems with the 07". He would not buy my car AT ANY PRICE.
Yes, they are fun, but if you have to travel so far to the dealership you will regret it as I have.
If your car qualifies for the Lemon Law, it doesn't matter what your dealer wants to do. However, if you've put dents in it, that isn't something you can blame on MINI reliability.

Just hope you're never transferred to southern Oregon. Three hours from Portland for me.
