floor mat question

I figured I'd at least ask but my dealer wouldn't throw in a set of floor mats. I'm looking at ordering them but have a question. The S rubber floor mats are at least $15 more than the regular Mini Cooper logo rubber floor mats. Is the logo the only difference? In other words, can I get the less expensive Mini Cooper front rubber mats for my Mini Cooper S and will they fit? I already did some searching, but didn't see this addressed. thanks, John

the floor pans are the same i dont see why they would be any different. buy the coopers have the dealer fit them and if they dont fit just tell them to swap them for the S

Won't there be a sacrifice in performance without the S floor mats?
How much performanec improvement can I expect if I go with the S mats?

I bought rubber mats when I got my car in June. I have an S but they gave me regular Mini mats. Didn't really care - they say "MINI" on them and it IS a MINI. I will never have carpet ones again. You just can't keep the carpet ones as clean as the rubber - stuff is going to get ground into them and spills will stain.

#1. They fit

#2. Never really noticed a rubber smell

I like the rubber ones. Easy to clean and they never had a smell from day 1.

(unlike some rubber ones I bought at wal-mart a few years ago for my truck)

Now if you go with the JCW mats front and back they are good for another 12hp

Other than the obvious hp increase with the JCW mats, any of you that have them, what do you like about them?

I got a 6.5 HP gain at the wheels with the JCW Checkered Flag mats. Nothing with the stock mats :(.

I don't know what dyno is being used that got 12HP. Please post environment info as well so we can all critique it.

"I got a 6.5 HP gain at the wheels with the JCW Checkered Flag mats."

Is it not a well known fact that anything bearing a JCW logo increases HP by a minimum of 4 hp? Hence the checkered flag mats are really only adding 2.5 hp.

Is the black strip near the base of the pedals on the JCW mats carpet or rubber?
Do any of you fans of the rubber drive barefoot? My only experience with rubber mats was with the weather-tec ones with the channels and those weren't barefoot friendly.

The mere thought of driving barefoot gives me the jibblies. Maybe I just have sensitive foots. To each his/her own though.

There are lots of pics on the cocomats.com site. And some in this thread.

While you won't get these "thrown in" by the dealer, they're far superior to any OEM mat available IMHO. Really dress up the car, easy to clean, hide dirt in the weave, and last for a long, long time.

Most people get some variation of the "dot" mats for the MINIs. Here'a a black/red dot set in a MINI. They look even better in person - when you can really see the texture.

I got rubber S mats included with the car, and ordered from Front JCW mats for the summer months.

If I put S mats in the front, would any HP gain be offset by the use of non-S mats in the rear?
