I have a moan that sounds like an unlubricated speedometer cable from a 1969 VW Bug coming from my dash at HIGHWAY speeds. Has anyone else heard this? Thanks and "KEEP MOTORING".

 

is this on a smooth road or over bumps ? I had my secret compartment fixed and alot of the noise went away but there was still some creaking over bumps. I think I found and fixed it today. Need a few more days to confirm its gone before I post it. I'll let you know.

I have occasional noise coming from where the ceiling switch cluster is. When I push on the grey plastic cover with holes the noise goes away.

 

I do not think its the infamous windshield noise. It sounds exactly like an unlubricated speedometer cable spinning in its casing. Anyone know if the R56 has a speedo cable or is it electronic? The sound is coming from behind the speedo! THANKS.

 

pretty sure it's electronic like most things on the MINI.

 

Did you look for a stray cat or squirel under the hood?
