These aren't just ordinary rattles. These rattles are surrounded by a 6 month old MINI. But they sound like they come from a rusted out 1972 Chevy Vega. These are magical rattles, too. Only the dealer isn't able to hear them. Plus, some of the rattles morph into continuous buzzes if the "Hifi" is on (and it usually is, since it is needed to drown out the rattles). Anyone interested? If you buy these unique rattles, I'll throw in the MINI for free. It's the ideal car, if you are deaf. It has more rattles than Babies R Us and the "Hifi" sounds like a $14 clock radio.
My 2006 is getting there... I have not tried the dealer yet, hoping they can get loud enough that even the deafest of service associates are able to heard them :-/
What's funny is that there are days that my car feels like this, keeping in mind that we have some bad road around here, but there are days like today that the car was absolutely solid.
Today is sunny and 73F, I guess it likes the weather...

Yes, weather is definitely a factor. As the temperature drops, materials contract and become more rigid, making them not only inherently more rattle-worthy, but also increasing gaps between materials. It is warmer here than it had been recently, but these rattles were noticeble in the middle of summer.
I am very sensitive to rattles and squeaks in the cabin, drives me nuts. So I went on this "search and destroy" mission, and I was able to silence a couple of the major rattles. There are still a couple of minor ones that only come on during very harsh road conditions, so I left those alone fearing I might make them worse if I mess with them too much.

Same here....got the biggies taken care of. A little help from dealer. Found the others on my own search and destroy mission.
Never heard a rattle /knock /growl/grind/ buzz/ burp/fart or any other abnormal noise from my car, from day one ,(touch wood ). Love my babyI must be living right.
I've got a really really bad one that absolutely kills me. it is coming from the rear hatch. I folded down the seats and got back there while my wife drove and it seems to be coming from behind the plastic panel, under that little rubber thing on the passenger side. (according to Real OEM it is a Bump Stop) It is just under the window.
I have looked into popping the back trim off but i know i will break something if i do...not to mention that it does not look like there is anything under there.
The only rattle I have is when I open and shut the doors, that sounds like someone is inside the quarter panel trying to get out. I think I need some Mini Monster spray Hope you can get your rattles fixed.
Our 2003 Honda Accord has many more rattles than our Mini .The dealer at SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO HONDA made us feel much better by telling us Mercedes - Benz rattle also .
Although I do have a squeel. But it only comes from the passenger seat when I take a corner too fast or when I merge onto interstates... ummmm... in a spirited manner.
IMHO, rattles come from wire bundles under the panels. When the bundles rub against something it generates rattles and squeaks. MCS must have more wires all over the car.
I think its just the nature of a small car. Maybe not the sole contribution to the problem. I look at it like when I used to ski and was in good shape. The longer the skies the more stable or smooth the ride was. "Less rattles". A smaller ski was less stable. LynnEl, maybe you could try the dealer one last time again but I completely understand. Some rattles are creeping into my car but mainly on rough patches and most times its something obvious like a coke can sitting there. Anyway, Good luck.
