Nope no names, except maybe referring to their licence plates - IT BURNS has been on 3 cars so far - 2003 MCS/JCW, 2005 Audi S4 and now my R56.
My '66 has GRX555D. My wife and kids just refer to them as the new mini and old mini.
Here is a question for you mini historians, without googling it, what does GRX555D refer to in mini history?

MINI Cooper is changing colors...
Out of the blue this name came to me and stuck itself in my head...My MINI now has a name (if you can call it that)...it's more like i renamed the MINI - i no longer will be taking delivery of a MINI - it's the Phatmobile. (rhymes with you know what). To the Phat cave!
Phatmobile S Hmmm - Nah it's the Phatmobile

You're fine, it's all good
The "naming" thing reflects owners' enthusiasm for their cars and their personal attachment, making the car somewhat human. But NOT naming your car or constantly referring to it by a "name" doesn't mean you're not a fan of your Mini. I called mine "The Fridge" the day I got it because it's all plain old boring pepper white (sarcasm here...I believe pw is the least used color on modern Minis), kinda like a refridgerator, but I dont go around calling it that all the time. I remember standing at the dealer on the day I picked it up; while they finished washing it I said, "Looks like a little refridgerator on wheels." But 99% of the time, it's just "The Mini", same as my old 62 Cooper was just "The Mini". I can tell you that in other car circles, people have very varied opinions on naming cars. Ever been to a big hot rod/custom car show, where there's led sleds with crazy names...The Ember Glow (That was a real car in the fifties), Chantilly Lace, The Bomb...stuff like that. Some guys feel you're IN TROUBLE when you start naming your car, custom or stock. So it is what it is, it's all good, enjoy your car and have fun. You just MIGHT find as some time goes by that your Mini will acquire a name through use or adventure, which to me makes more sense.
I am, however, glad that the Golden Gate Bridge is not named Fred. Or "Goldie".

Good one!
Hey, that's GOOD! If all those letters were loose in a jumble, you might have come up with SOOPER C, which would be kinda cool too! Scrabble, anyone??

This is how names come about most of the time, an off the cuff remark someone else makes about the car, an event or experience, or just random fate (like throwing the badge letters on a table.)

I haven't taken delivery of my mini yet, but the only car I have named in my lifetime is my 68 Beetle. It's white and resembles an igloo, and it's just as cold as one. Therefore, L'il Igloo. I came up with the name as I was shivering inside when it was -20C outside, and it was probably -15C inside.
Perhaps the mini will have some outstanding feature about it that will require a name??
