Pretender or not, it's still pretty hot. If my stripes turn out like that (And they'd better! *shakes angry fist in the general direction of the dealership in a vaguely threatening manner*) I'll be extremely pleased.
I wouldn't pay >$40k for it, and, yeah, that wing does look pretty dang close to park-bench-on-a-Honda status, but it's still pretty cool anyway.

They left off the carbon fiber diffuser and the rear wing looks like a tv antena from the 50's. Maybe they should wrap it in foil and it would get a better reception.
The side gills look plastic. Plus the stips are a lot more narrow than the Challenge where they are almost as wide as the scoop - they just stuck on the standard MINI racing stripes.
They also got the wheels wrong by going with the horseshoes.
Otherwise it's a nice car for someone to fix up.

Here's a quote from Vista Mini website about this car:

Not to long ago the Vista MINI Motoring Team were talking about the MINI Challenge car. We concluded that it would be great to have the "ultimate" MINI but even if we did it wouldn't be "street legal" and the price, forget about it!
Out of that discussion the V-1 was "born."

$41k is crack-smoking pricing on a Mini
and I really, really doubt it will sell for that. If it does (or the $45k asking price from the dealer) someone has WAYYY to much money.
So, they took a car that bases for a bit over $20k and almost doubled the price? I was just on the MiniUSA site. Base Chilli Red/White top, LSD, DSC, Sport Suspension and JCW kit was $25,450. That's the "sleeper" performance MCS...
I just don't get it.

It generally gives off a cleaner, smoother look instead of breaking up the colors and lines with contrast colors (black on yellow can be pretty disruptive). It follows pretty solid design guidelines really....
In terms of the original challenge replica....i think it looks like something straight outta fast and furious. I think that if they wanted to do a cool challenge version car, they could have done a better job picking wheels that were a bit more motorsport influenced.

The black arches don't look nearly as out of place here w/ the JCW aero kit (in fact I rather like the way they blend with the black bottom front lip) as they do on the factory hypersport aero kit.

My buddy at works likes the solid look also, but he thought that it made the wheels look bigger or wider with the solid color. Thats why I asked...I was wondering if you saw what he saw. I ordered the white mini with the black arches using the JCW kit. I'm wondering if it all depends upon the color of the car.
