Sunroof switch fix

A recent software update took care of the problem of not being able to easily crack open the front and back sunroofs without having them stop short or having the back tilt back down and the front one start to open all the way.

Now, when I pull on the toggle and hold it, both roofs open to the crack open position and go no farther. It then take a release of the toggle and a second pull and hold for the front roof to slide back.

It does the same thing in reverse. The front roof slides forward and it and the back roof go back into the cracked open position. A second tug on the toggle then closes both.

The system now works the way we hoped it had in the beginning.

Mine will open by pulling past indent then letting go, that tilts both panes.Pull again and hold to open all the way. Closing is all manual.
Did you go to the dealer and request this upgrade ? How did you find out about it ? Sounds like a major improvement in operation to me.

Even with the fix, you still have to hold the toggle switch for both the opening and closing, but it makes it much easier for the system to stop at the cracked open position and then push the button a second time to go all the way open and the same two positions for closing.

I had the car in to install an Ipod adaptor and the OEM Sirius radio. There were downloads for both of them, plus they did a general software update. I hadn't had the car in since I drove it home in April. So far, that's the only change I've found.

So the sunroof update was part of that general software update? I suppose I'll have to wait till next June when I go in for 1st scheduled maintenance to get that update , since I'm 200 mi. from the dealer . Unless I decide on some mods... say... like yours , hmm ...

Neither of those options were available at the time my car arrived. And the Sirius installation was the first for Rasmussen for an R56. Portland is a two-hour drive for me. Maybe the other buyers weren't as musically deprived as those of us in southern Oregon. I finally got desperate enough for more radio choices to get the Sirius.

Sorry to somewhat switch topics on you, but how much was the Sirius (total incl installation)?

Thanks!

I bought the Sirius unit for $479 with the NAM discount from Classic Mini. The regular retail at that time was $599. Rasmussen charged me $330 for the installation.

The purchase price of the unit includes a year of service.
