program to open with one pull

Don't know if this will help you but..I asked my dealership to program the door to open on one pull, which they did....not auto open but still eliminates the double pull.

Maybe I am misunderstanding minimor719, but these two statements seem to contradict.

Do you still have the auto-lock feature activated?

Mine does not require autopull. It did when I got it and I dont know why but it changed. My wife's bmw has double pull. The funny part is that I always used to unlock her doors from the central lock switch UNTIL I got the mini and realized you could double pull on BMW doors. Weird

I suspect minimor719 has it set to not auto-lock, which means it opens on the first pull since it's already unlocked when the handle is pulled.

If you have it on autolock (when you start to drive away the doors lock) and you try to get out you HAVE to double pull.

If you have auto lock off (drive away doors DO NOT automatically lock) and you get out you DONT have double pull.

If you read the owners manual theres a section that explaines it...Yeah I like how the doors auto lock when I drive away but hate they don't automatically unlock when I shut the car off and take the key out of the ignition. (did it in my old saturn). I guess I just got used to the double pull

We can't seem to get a straight answer, some saying it does, some saying it doesn't (mine doesn't).

Who's R56 Mini will auto-lock their doors once your driving and

either:

a) auto-unlock when you shut off the engine or
b) auto-unlock when you remove the key fob or
c) unlock and open the door with one single pull of the handle

?

So far this seems like it was an option on the prior year Mini's but not on R56s.

But, what is the purpose of the double pull?

I think you can open a Corolla's doors with one pull.

When the doors are locked, it takes a double pull to open them. First pull unlocks, second opens.

Somehow I figured this out with one set of keys, and not the other. SO sometimes I get one pull sometimes two.
Just have to go through all the menus again and set the second set.

You get 2 pulls if the door is locked. 1 pull if it's unlocked. You must have set one key to auto-lock when you drive off.

My MINI is the third German car I have that requires 2 pulls to open locked doors. My Porsche 996, BMW E90 do this too. As mentioned before it's the only method to mechanically unlock the door. The electronic method is via an unlock button.

I've only had my MINI for three days and 50 miles, but if it's anything like the Bimmers, the car will not unlock upon turning off your car. This is a safety feature.

For those that say don't turn on auto-lock, or suggest you drive with your doors unlocked have not considered personal safety nor safety of your possessions. The Bimmer boards are full of users who post incidents on their European Delivery and get their bags stolen from the backseat while at a stop light.

My car doors auto lock and it only takes one pull to open them when I stop and turn off my car. It is something that the MA set up for me in the computer when I picked up my car. I wish that I could tell you where or how she set it up, but I don't know. She was in the drivers seat at the time.

it's not really a problem as much as it is an annoyance. the inside of our cars already look like a cockpit and people think the doors are broken or they just throw their shoulder into the locked door. my friends are probably retarded but it happens.

Try this to avoid the double pull unlock... Just before the car comes to a complete stop, shut the ignition off.
I have a 2002, and it takes one pull to open only if I do that. Otherwise it takes 2 pulls. Not sure if it will work with R56, but it works with the R50. I have a stick and I already have the clutch in when I shut it off. Not sure how that might or might not work with an auto.

You have to program BOTH keys one at a time so that the doors do not lock after the car rolls past 10 mph. I had the same issue with mine that bothered me so I re-set it. The manual shows how to do this and I'll admit, it isn't super-clear, but give it a try and then repeat on your other key.

Mine opens on one pull now.

I think what everyone wants, is to have the doors automatically lock when you start to drive off and then when you shut the car off have them unlock but that isnt going to happen.

See when you drive off the doors are locked ( if you have it set to auto lock) and then when you get out you pull once to unlcok the door then the second time you pull itll open.

My 2005 Saturn, I had before the MINI, the doors would lock after 5mph then if you shut the car off pull key out of ignition thell automatically unlock. BUT say if I was driving stopped and kept the car running tried to get out I could with ONE pull its just how GM manufactured the door mechanism.

If you have MINI on autolock drive off the doors lock, which I like. I just feel safer esp at a red light or sumpthen no one can pull door open if in the city or some strange thing. But when I park shut the car off, It WOULD be nice to just pull once and get the heck out but I know how the car is made and I'm just going to have to live with it.

kevinminict,

You're right on that one. I decided I wanted everything unlocked at once as it's more convienient for me. I can always manually lock the doors in scary areas. The auto-lock was driving me nuts.

This is exactly what I want. My 2004 MCS had this feature. It was something that the dealer had to enable for you, but it was there nonetheless. I just don't understand why this feature wasn't carried over in 2007 as it seems to make a lot of sense.
