I don't know where some of you are getting your parts from $300 for a bumper cover is a LOT! and $1500 is just plain old stupid (no offence).
I own a shop and I can pick up aftermarket bumper covers that look and fit as well as factory units for $80 all day!
Ill gladly sell em to all those needing them for $250.
except the one who paid $1500. your a special one. for you $1000. and thats a bargain for ya.
Oh and the actual bumper that goes under the bumper cover? yea thats an extra $125. I could only imagine how much your a#$ hurt after getting slammed like that!
OUCH!!!

Remember, that a reg body shop will estimate based on their loaded programs (I can't remember the names) which includes labor for R&I (remove and install) which doubles the price. Many of the minor repair shops respray on the car which is much less expensive.
A propper way to paint a bumper cover is to remove it from the vehicle as to cover the entire part with clear coat after painting it. it is considered backyard shade tree to tape it on the cars. A pro wouldn't do that.

any chance you've checked on the price/availability for the new R56 bumpers ? I'd love to know if they're pumping out the JCW bumper skins/parts already.
I'd certainly be up for purchasing one (front JCW lightning blue).

Certifit ? I saw they have the '02-'04 front bumper skins for ~$73

I dont use certa/sorta fit. here in Az we have auto fit which so far has been great fitting with late model parts. there older vehicle parts are not quite as good though.
I dont know about the front bumper availability, but have seen the rear bumper with a price in the parts book. the front bumper as well as the headlight assy just has call for pricing written down where the price normally is.
