R56 Taking the Plunge

Well I did it. The deposit has been paid and the waiting has begun.
I ended up getting the DSC, for all those in that camp. I decided it was relatively cheap insurance. As Msteadman said tit doesn't add much to the monthly, although I'll probably just put $500 more down.
The others options remain the same. I'll probably order mud flaps shortly after delivery as well and just put them on myself. I've got the install procedure from somewhere on NAM saved.
The only odd thing that I encountered was that the dealership wanted me to buy a "protection package", after seeing it written it sounds a little criminal. It would've included rubber mats, paint sealant, interior sealant, a CD sun visor holder, and a rear bumper protector. the whole would have come to around $800. I said no thank you and feel I made the right choice.

I only have a MC and was debating DSC when ordering my car last year. My MA said its not really necessary on a MC, but he strongly recommended it on a MCS. He said a MCS can 'overpower' the tires, a MC cannot. That said, I did some research and ordered it on my MC anyway.
DSC would be useful on both the MC and MCS as it only deals with drifiting (i.e., when the car is not going where the wheels are pointed). While it might be argued that MCS drivers might be more prone to getting themselves into trouble, either car is as likely to get into an emergency situation that is caused by another driver. Your MA is giving out very bad advice.
I also would have it if only for the hill assist feature. I love it. No more manipulating the handbrake to keep from rolling backwards, and initially my driveway slopes up pretty good and with the dip at the sidewalk you can't get a running start.

If you guys want to see how DSC works go out to a smooth open field. l did that the other day! There was an art show and the dirt road allowed me to "blow" a little dust. As it was sliding sideways l corrected it and the car touched the brakes and away we went straight as an arrow.........it was so cool! l did it til my wife asked.."are we done!!" hehehehe, of course not!
