Okay, newbie who just got her MINI two days ago. (OB/B)

I'm guessing that in order to use my iPod in the MINI, there isn't something my iPod ALREADY came with that I can use to hook it up? Is that true?

Anyone know of a good inexpensive place to order to hookup cable if need be?

thanks!
Sharon

If you have the Aux In port, you just need a 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cable. No text on the display, but it will work for cheap.

I know nothing about this stuff, so please tell me why you like this one. Thanks! (and it's pretty inexpensive too!)

That doesn't make sense for those with a USB port... can't navigate the iPod's contents if you're only using an 1/8" audio input.

Why does the MINI need the 1/8" part of that at all? Can't it get the audio from the iPod over USB alone?

I was hoping to use a long iPod connector -> USB cable and run it up into the secret compartment to hide the iPod from view... now I wonder if that's even possible without ordering an expensive long M/F iPod connector extension cable from cablejive.

It's just that the sound is better than coming from the iPod connection than straight from the headphone jack.

That doesn't make sense for those with a USB port...
The cable is a recommendation for those who don't have USB or the OEM iPod adapter.

No, iPod does not allow digital audio output over USB. This was a calculated decision by Apple to prevent copying. A very few components (e.g. Alpine iDA-X001) can directly play Apple encoded music files retrieved over USB, but they use decoders specially licensed from Apple.

Ahh. Makes sense. Sucks, but makes sense.

Thanks.
