Smudge is my daily drive, gets left outside in all weathers and performs nearly flawlessly (doesn't like the cold weather at all). We have a highlander which my wife needs for her work (a visiting hospice nurse), but i drive Smudge every chance I get.
P.S. Smudge hasn't been cleaned in months. I can only hand wash and SE Pennsylvania doesn't lend itself to that very much
"Stella" is my DD....I also have a '95 Tahoe, but I don't think I've driven it more than 6 or 7 times over the last year. Of course, that is only because there is no way I'm putting torn out drywall in the back of my MINI!
I live in Cincinnati and just drove home in the worst snow/ice storm we've had this winter. The roads & highways were treacherous (unable to distinguish lanes on certain parts of the highway)
I was very nervous setting out on this journey, especially since my last car was a Jeep/Wrangler 4WD. But this lil' thang did GREAT. It's actually a very heavy car for it's size, so I think that helped.
Got home safe & sound .... I'm officially a MINI owner for life!!
I don't think owning a MINI as the only car will be too bad. It's got to be much better than owning a M Coupe as the only car/daily driver. I did that for about 1.5 years. Wasn't too bad at all.
After trading a BMW Z3 for my MINI I feel like, and do have more than twice the room I had before. This is an easy replacement. I also have a Ford F150 that has not been driven for 4 years. Makes a great parked storage unit.
MINI is my first, one and only car! Completely practical for my needs as a single male who seldom carries more than one passenger and doesn't have much need for cargo space. Also I live in the city. So the MINI's size (have to parallel park just about everyday), efficiency and comfort are perfect for my uses.
Also I'm in the NE - even with the snow there's been no problems yet other than that blasted cold start issue.
2007 Mini Cooper S is my daily driver. Work is about 4 miles away from home. I sold my 2004 MCS with 23000 miles. I now have 623 miles since middle of December. What a hassle to break in. At this rate, I'll be ready for my first Oil change in three years.
rockridge, interesting parking pattern you've got in that garage! I see the MINI is first in, do you just make a hard right, pull the handbrake, and let it drift in sideways?
...and to answer the thread question, my soon to be delivered Clubman will be my only car, replacing my 325 wagon, which I'm trading in. I've always had my eye on a MINI, and the size and layout of the Clubman will suit my everyday needs, and will be more fun to drive!
Jeep Liberty and MCS. I drive my Jeep about 3 times a week and my Mini the other 4. My Jeep gets about 21 MPG (not bad) but I love my 38 MPG average in my Mini.
I'm on my third MINI since '03(all daily drivers) but I've had my '73 914 2.0 since high school grad in '93.Just purchased an '86 928S4 to replace my '05 MCS.
yep, my 03 cooper is my only car and my daily driver and I loovve it. fun to drive and yes, its practical but at the same time stylish. hehe. best hatchback of all time!!!!
HA, I can't seem to get myself to eliminate any of the herd quite yet:
1. Wife's Ford Focus ZX3
2. '00 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T Manual Quattro
3. '86 BMW 325es
4. My '03 MCS
5. Yamaha FZR (will be sold come spring)
6. Lambretta scooter (in pieces)
7. Many many bicycles...
