R56 Key Fob question
#28
my silver plastic ring cracked months ago. The dealer has ordered a new one for me. The self programming concept puzzles me. Lets says you have a fob from one MCS and insert it into another MCS. Will it reprogram to start the second MCS? If so, we have a universal fob for any 2007 or later mini cooper.

No. Each fob is different--will not be usable on another car. What's more, each fob has to be programmed for the SAME car, because it starts out with a "blank slate" so to speak, as far as the personal options are concerned. For example, if both drivers want 3-flash signals, both will have to be programmed to do that since the default is 1-flash.
If you look in the manual, you will see several other options--daytime running lights and locks, for example.
Does that help?
