Updating that I bought an astro black Cooper S from Rasmussen in Portland, they were so much easier to deal with. My salesman, Jarid Perry, was very accommodating and helpful and seemed like a genuine mini enthusiast.
They did mark up $175 but at least it includes floormats (which NW's $595 fee doesn't apparently). I still didn't give them my trade in (they actually offered less than NW did) but I guess that's the way of things at all Mini dealers.
