How to activate the headlight washer?

Hi,
So far, 2 Mini Sales Execs i have gone thru and they still can't give me the answer to how i can activate my headlight washer.

The only way i know how is when i activate the windscreen washer, the headlight washer too will operate once, and thats it.

Any other way?

I believe the first requirement is that the headlights must be on. Then the headlight washers will activate I believe every third time you activate the regular windshield washers. I would check the manual for the exact details.

Not sure about the "every 3rd time", but I do know that it will spray at least twice when it activates.
Least ours does.

I've heard the 'every third time' thing before too, but haven't had it work for me before.

Turning the car off and on again will work to get it to spray again.

+1 with my R53. Supposedly, the headlight washers are locked out for a period of time (10-15 mins?) after the first use. I have yet to get mine to activate after the initial shot...kind of annoying where I live - it's quite dusty/muddy here!

Turning the car off and on again seems to be the only way I've gotten them to spray again.

DRLs don't count

I might add that the light switch must be set to on for the washers to work -- having the DRLs on doesn't count.

Manual says (not much )...

Cleaning windshield and headlamps*

Pull the lever, arrow 5

Washer fluid is sprayed onto the windshield and
the wipers are operated for a short time.
When the vehicle lighting system is switched on,

the headlamps are cleaned at regular and

appropriate intervals.

I don't know for sure how often the washers wash, every 3? 5?, but I know every once in a while they do wash by themselves when the windshield washers are activated and the headlights are on (and every time the first time you use the washer after the lights are turned on). It would be nice to have a manually controlled headlight washer button, in addition to the automatic wash, though.

With the lights on at night, in a dark area, you can see the shadow of the washers and extra spray. Mine does it every 3rdish time I wash my windows as long as you leave some time between washings. What I mean by this is that if you pull the stick back, let go, pull back, let go, pull back, let go, then the headlight washers may not activate as it acts as if this was one pull on the stick not 3. If you wash the windshield say every 5 minutes then you're 3rd wash (~15 minutes later) should activate the headlight washers.

This is from my own personal experience YMMV. cheers
