Worth it or not? Its cool alright, but is it worth the cost?

 

I have the chrome line option, and at first it was annoying because it reflects all sorts of interior lights at night. But now I've gotten used to it and I don't regret getting it. It adds certain elegance to the interior.

 

I had spec'ed out the chrome line, but ended up not getting it when the car came in, and i'm glad it didn't. I don't even notice the difference now with not having it. Plus now I think without it the dash looks better and the colors flow together. So, i'd have to say save your $200.

 

For me it depends on what interior "theme" you are going with. If you are choosing colorline, or have colored seats or trim, then I agree that it kind of breaks up the flow of the colors.

I have a very monochromatic theme inside and out (everything inside is black, grey, and chrome and outside is black, white and chrome)...for me it works on the inside because there is no color.

I had a very specific color scheme I was going for...black, grey and chrome. Molly has the Fluid Silver Interior Surface as well so there is a bit of a shine ther and so the chrome with its shine compliment the Fluid Silver. With the OB color everything seems to work really well...I wouldn't change a thing!!

 

i like chrome rings around only the gauges and those can be had cheaply aftermarket

 

I have the chrome line interior and love the look. I think it depends on whether you want to save the money up front and spend it later aftermarket with your own labor, or just get it from the factory already chromed.

I didn't want it and my wife did. Ordered without it but then added it pre-production as a surprise for wifey and now one week after picking the car up, I decided that I like it very much with the brushed alloy and grey line trim - it is a very nice detail.

Glad to hear that. I have been regretting ordering it - thought it might clash with the brushed alloy. I also have the Dark Grey Color Line option, so it sounds similar.

On a related topic: I did NOT order Chrome Line Exterior and I wonder if I should have. Also, I'm thinking about a Chrome Scoop, which I'm assuming I can get aftermarket. I'm wondering if it would make the car too flashy - I think it looks kind of cool in photos. Any thoughts?

I have the chrome line on my 08 MCS and like it a lot with the piano black

Be aware that several NAMers have noticed that on newer order models chrome doesn't come around the speakers in the doors, which the MINI configurator shows as part of the chrome line option. There's a separate thread on this somewhere....

I have the interior chrome, and I actually really really like it. it adds a shine to the inside. My 2004 Cooper did not have it, and I regretted it.

And I am not a huge chrome fan (as I am getting the exterior chrome blacked out).

I know, I am confused by that as well ...

It all comes down to personal taste. If you saw pictures of it and liked it, then you should get it. Personally, I think there's plenty of exterior chrome already from the factory so I didn't order it with my car.

 

I added the chrome to my '04 interior. It adds a little bling to the interior.

 

On the Chrome Line interior - it's just a little nice touch to the interior - without being "too much"..

When I ordered my '05 my MA didn't know how to order it (it was a new option). I ordered it afterwards and love it , just one more opinion.

 

I agree with some posters that it depends on your color scheme I personally love it and was glad to pay $200 for it.

I think the chrome line adds a cetain amount of calss on the vehicle but it depends on what your color pallette is. I have a Chili Red and black with a Black interior [anthracite headliner/piano black dash] with red color line. I think the chrome just adds a little bit of "something". But it is all personal taste. As long as it is a MINI, it will be cool no matter how you configure it.

 

I like the look of the chrome line in mine as well. I don't normally like chrome but the gray plastic alternative looked bad to me.
