E-brake

I'm not sure if this is normal or not...I can give my e-brake a very very light pull and it clicks. It almost seems like this should be it's resting position, but it can actually go lower. I noticed this because sometimes I would hear 3 clicks when I park, and sometimes only 2. This means I was driving around for a while with that first click up...but there is no resistance when it clicks the first time. Is this the resting position?

Also, the chrome on the tip on the e-brake feels loose, is this normal?

Hey, I'm seeing this same thing so I'm bumping this up. Its very disconcerting to push down and have the handle not lock at the bottom most position. The brake still works and the light doesn't go on when pulled gently (e.g. 1/8 of an inch) to its first "stop".

I experience this as well. Is there a way adjust or tighten in such a way that the handle will lock at the bottom most position? Sometimes, it will be up like skimmilk said, 1/8th of an inch, and I would be driving.

While I'm pretty sure the e-brake is not engage, I don't feel like the handle should be in that position at all. It's just really annoying that the handle is that loose..you even hear the first click at that position.

Mine's been like that for a while too. I think we should get that checked out. Yesterday I pulled it up to park (my car wasn't in gear- I usually leave it in 1st but I forgot to) and the car started rolling backwards. I had to yank it up even further to get the car to stop. Is it normal for an ebrake to just stop working after a year?

The cable may be stretched. There is an adjustment on the handle under the boot.
