Not to be off-topic here, but just because you CAN do 80 mph in your car doesn't mean you should. It's not safe to do on a highway with a lot of variables that are not under your control, IMHO.
Uh, what I wrote above? Forget what I said. Yesterday I found myself driving with Sport Mode on doing 140-160km/h (about 85-100mph) for long stretches of highway and loved every second of it.

I didn't check the mileage afterwards, but nonetheless I feel so stupid now for my original post.

Please forgive!

I love my R56 MCS.

I thought you were talking about doing 80 in a residential zone ..

On a highway its real easy to get to 80MPH. I put my display on consumption and ran with cruise control set at 65, then 70, then 75, the mileage went down by abt 10% per 5mph. while not scientific it sure showed the impact of speed on the mileage displayed.

I can easily get 31mpg in my MCS on mixed city/highway in the generally the worst conditions (NJ to Long Island, Friday outbound, Monday inbound all rush hour).
If I actually get the chance to cruise the car at around 75 for a whole tank I can get 34-35mpg.

While the S isn't quite the gas sipper that the MC is it's still damn good.

People should note if they have all season tires, or summers and in 16" or 17". Rolling resistance plays a huge roll in fuel consumption. Just ask a SUV owner :P

I have 15" Rotator Spokes w/ all-season Continentals. I get 39-41 mpg around town, too.

Calcualated actual mileage yesterday: 424 miles driven when reserve light came on. Put in 12.348 gallons: 34.34. The computer was about 1 mile higher. I drive mainly highway about 80/20. I usually cruie with a daily burst or two of acceleration. . .he he. . .maybe three or four. Anyway i'm not driving crazy all of the time and I don't sacrifice any fun time either.

All in all pretty dam good gas mileage.

if you arent going at 80mph on the left lane then you are making yourself a speed bump and making it dangerous for everyone else thats driving around you at 80

MCS commute 90 miles round trip and about 85 of them are on freeway... first tank got me 29.86 mpg ... much better than my A3 3.2 which only had 20mpg

My obc is saying 51.2 at 580 miles. So far I've had an actual high of 45.6.
Not at 80 mph though.
