Well I took Bimini into Discount tire last Saturday. $145 for 4 certs. The guy was kinda freaked out when he saw that I only had 380 miles on my baby. Told him that was a lot. On our first MINI, I had certs within the first 100 miles. That was about 18 months ago and 4 certs plus a cheapo tire for the spare was about $190 I think. Seems like I paid $25 per cert. so certs have gone up by about $10.

Is that good for the life of the tire? The ones I got for my Jeep were (I bought the tires at Discount). They replaced all 4 and they were almost 3 years old with 40k miles on them (I busted one with a rock). $25/tire. The tires were about $125 per.

I have patched one of my run-flats several months back with no problems. Discount Tire says that they do them all the time.

Unfortunately, we don't have Discount Tire here in Maryland. Does anyone know of a company in my area who would warrant the tires that come on the MINI like Discount Tire does. It sure sounds cheaper than buying that coverage from a dealer!

Is this coverage for new car tires something that they advertise or is it something you have to go in and ask them about?

Mine comes with 16" run-flat tires and I agree on tire noise. Someone in this thread mentioned that he/she will/would replace non run flat tires...I wonder if older model has spare tire? 2008 model doesn't come with one and no place to store it either :-(

I have had a flat fixed on my 03 and 07 runflats. Both times I just brought it to a regular gas station and they were patched in about five minutes for about $10 0r $15 dollars and I was on my way. No problems after either repair.

I heart Discount Tires! I started getting a slow leak on one of my one month old MINI's runcraps. Couldn't see anything obvious so I took it to my local shop yesterday afternoon. They found a small nail and patched it from the inside for free. I've been using the same Discount Tire shop near my house for over a decade on many different cars/wheels/tires and they have never done anything less than stellar work. Once you're "in their system" stuff like flat repairs are free and they will always work hard to get the tire manufacturer's warranties to work for you.

This is true, at least for a while with some Dunlop retailers. Our local Goodyear (they own Dunlop) repaired a nail puncture on our OEM runflat during our first year of ownership. We had another puncture the other day, closer to the shoulder and barely outside the tread area (I should mention that these tires still have plenty of tread on them). This time they said that no, they could not repair it. After chatting for a while I uncovered a couple of facts: 1) the limitation on which parts of the tires they can repair is imposed by the legal counsel at Goodyear/Dunlop, and tire retailers take it very seriously, 2) the techs who work with tires all day every day believe that it is perfectly safe to patch them and would happily do so if not for the legal problems. I just stopped by an auto parts place and bought a tire plug kit for less than $10. Then I spent about 10 minutes repairing the tire myself (OK, I worked at a gas station years ago and I know how to do this). Zero issues. The tire runs fine and holds air fine.

That makes perfect sense to me. What's the structural difference between the tread that meets the road and the part around the sidewall that doesn't? They're made of similar materials with the same stresses on them and the same air pressure. Patch one place, not patch one a few inches away? I believe it's legal mumbo jumbo, not science that drives that. Thanks for backing me up!
