Would be tempted to go back to a Z3 ... had a 97 model, 5 speed manual, with a 1.9 liter ... MCS 07 has many of its excellent characteristics ... love the MINI and its more generous boot ... another alternative would be Z4 ... had a 3 liter Steptronic ... wonderful cruiser ... as is the MINI ... hmmm ... maybe I already have the best parts of both Z3 and Z4 in the MCS ...
-practical everyday car ...would have to be a VW GTI (R32 version)
-for my weekend fun car ...i'll stick w/ my Porsche Turbo (out handles almost anything i've ever driven).
If I were in Europe why not also think about the Audi S3, Seat Leon Cupra-R, Opel Corsa OPC, Vectra OPC(Vauxhall VXR range in UK), Euro Ford Focus RS/ST.
I'm sold on the lightweight of the MCS. Every 3K+ lb car feels like a barge now, so I'd lean toward a Lotus Elise. I'll be interested to see what the mini Audi is like when it reaches production.
My first 3 cars were Chevette's, I had a neighbor who put a 350 in one. (drag car). I loved the rear wheel drive in the small frame. I could go for one, if they were made today.
When my lease expires on my MCS, I'll be going back to my (finished rebuild) 68 VW type 1 baja!
Of course I'd have to get at least ONE more Mini. Maybe one in every color??? And a '67 Stingray. Wow...well...I have a list actually. But it's only to be used AFTER I win the lottery.
I looked into getting one of brammos kit a few years ago. didn't have the proper facility or the time or the funds but now it looks like brammo isn't distributing the atom anymore. so i kind of gave up on that.
