Checkerboard interior trim...

Did anyone get the standard checkerboard trim with their mini? If so, do you like it or do you regret not changing it for a different trim?

we have the checkered cloth sport seats but opt'd for the brushed alloy red color line. We really like the seats but cannot comment on the checkered dash trim

The standard checkered dash is fun. No regrets here. I spent my money on other options, like punch black leather and safety features (LSD, DSC)

I first wanted piano black dash trim, but it scratches easily. I chose this trim and love it now. I also have the black/grey leatherette seats, but I would have chosen the lounge leather seats if I had the money. Take the money you save and get the anthracite headliner, I think that makes the interior look a whole lot better.

Cool. Later this year we are going to order a second mini and get rid of our truck. Will add headliner to list.

I got the checkered trim when I ordered the car...
However, car hasn't arrived yet to know whether I regret it or not.
Should arrive in about 2 weeks though.

I got it. It's cool for me - doesn't look plain - matches the checkered seats - doesn't show fingerprints/dirt/etc. Wasn't one of those things I had to spend another few $100 on.

I, too, give for the checkered dash trim. It is a big statement for the interior and works very well on a MINI. The checkerboard is all about fun!!

I have the standard checkered dash, with rooster red colorline and rooster red/black seats, and it looks great.

The checkered dash is what drove the 'style' selections I made. Checkered dash, checkered mirrors (inside & outside), checkered fabric seats. Would have done checkered door handles but they are not available with the comfort access. Will be adding the checkered scuttles soon.

People riding for the first time in mine comment on the cool, silver checkerboard trim.

No Regrets! It's a great contrast to the black/grey interior.

If I could, a 'price check' on this trim business.

It looks like there may be a mix of apples & oranges going on in the previous posts. Some seem like they're talking about the checkerboard interior surface, and some seem like they're talking about the checkerboard dash trim.

I spoke with my MA today and he first told me I couldn't get the checkerboard trim on my MC--that it was only available on the MCS. Then I clarified I was talking about the checkerboard dash trim, which showed in the options catalog as being avialable for all MCs and Clubmans. OK, now I thought we were on the same page, but he told me it as near $1000 installed!

I can't believe this is right! It seems like we must still not be talking about the same thing, but I'll put it out to you folks. For those that chose to get the checkerboard dash trim, did you pay anywhere near that amount for materials & install combined? What else might he be confusing this option with?

I have the standard silver checkerboard dash trim. I really like it. I'm glad it wasn't a $250 option because I probably would've paid the money for it.

Was considering the piano black which I think is very neafty BUT shows every finger print smuge etc... so totaly happy with the "standard" checkerboard trim >>>

And those who do not know MINI speak and get into car think it is a custom finish

Sounds like your stealership is trying to rape you, checkerboard trim lists for $118, can be purchased at Morristown for $94.40 (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...egoryID=126734) not sure if thats for each side or the whole kit. As for installation, I believe its rather simple and would take you less than an hour.

I agree the statements about piano black - fingerprints, dust and any scratches are very visible! I keep a microfiber cloth in my glove compartment for touch ups. I have to admit though that I didn't think about the downsides to the Piano Black until I got it. But I do have to also admit that the interior of my MCS with the piano black trim, anthrasite headliner, black cloth checkered seats, and chrome lined interior looks so classic and awesome. If I could go back, I probably would not get piano black, but probably upgrade still from the standard checkered.

Okay, I am still at the configurator nightly, configuring and re configuring--waiting until November to place my order to hopefully coincide with giving back my current lease. Can any of you tell me if the standard checkerboard dash throws off any glare from the sun? Thanks!!
