I have a dumb question
Why are there "support groups" for specific colors of Minis? Does the color of a Mini affect its performance? Are the red ones faster? Did I buy the wrong color Mini? I am very perplexed.
I would like to start a " Lightning Blue / White roof / black lounge leather / cream line interior / sport package (with no bonnet stripes and crown spoke wheels with all season tires) / cold weather package / premium package / convenience package / anthracite headliner / union jack side scuttle and carpet floor matt thrown in by the dealer " support group.
Anyone with me? Meetings will be every third odd monday in months ending in Y and R.

Dear Joly,
I'm with you man! I would very much like to be a member of your "Lightning Blue / White roof / black lounge leather / cream line interior / sport package (with no bonnet stripes and crown spoke wheels with all season tires) / cold weather package / premium package / convenience package / anthracite headliner / union jack side scuttle and carpet floor matt thrown in by the dealer " support group.
I hope you won't discriminate against me and not allow me into your club because I have a "Chili Red / White roof / leatherette / rooster red interior / sport package (with white bonnet stripes and S-winder wheels with all season tires) / cold weather package / premium package / convenience package / no anthracite headliner / no union jack side scuttle [what's a scuttle?] and no carpet matt thrown in by the dealer."
Not sure if I can make the meetings. I'm too stupid to figure out your schedule.

You may join the group. We have quota's to fill so we actually need a small percentage of other color cars. Currently there are, hang on... lemme check the club roster... yeah, ZERO red cars. So you're in.
I'll start another post "How to figure out the "Lightning Blue / White roof / black lounge leather / cream line interior / sport package (with no bonnet stripes and crown spoke wheels with all season tires) / cold weather package / premium package / convenience package / anthracite headliner / union jack side scuttle and carpet floor matt thrown in by the dealer " support group." meeting schedule.

I have a MINI, and I know it's not an S, and I know it's red. But beyond that I don't know much else about it - except that I love it. Oh, and it has a sun roof, or moon roof - though I'm not sure what the difference is. Perhaps since I'm not a night-owl it's probably a sun roof. Anyway, can I be in as well ... under one of the quotas?

Yes, my children, join me all colors! For let not the color of our paint determine our worth! For we are all equal under the eyes of the great one, that which watches over us, the state police interceptor! So I say lay down your color swatches and join me! Rise up against the tyranny that is single color support groups and join the tide that no manufacturer can stem! For vast in number are we and all will see the teachings that we bring with us... that every color, every turbo charger and supercharger, every union jack decal, and every center mounted speedo is created equal! Let us learn from our ancestors, those teeny tiny ones that rolled proud and fast on those damn skateboard sized 10" wheels! And all are welcome!
So I shall transform this support group into the "Lightning Red Astro Blue Pepper Green British Racing Yellow Bright Nightfire Black Sparkling Mellow White Chili Pure Dark Laser Silver Owners Coalition!"
Meeting times will remain the same. Please send me a donation of only $199.00 and your social security number.
Scuttle on!

Having driven my car now for three and a half days (picked it up Friday night and drove all weekend; had to return to albuquerque on Tuesday am) I can empatically state that LiB is NOT a slow color. My MA told me that during break-in period (1200 miles) I should not drive above 4500 RPM or 100 MPH). Well, I know I have come close to 4500 (am trying *very* hard not to get up that high!!!) and as for 100 MPH - well, I will not admit to breaking the law so let's not say anything about MPH. Let me tell you, second (and third) gear is a *lot* of fun, it really gets going. I do not detect ANY turbo lag, it just takes off.
I have only about 450 miles on the car so at this rate it will be a few weeks before I hit 1200; I'm thinking it will be about 300 miles per weekend so maybe 3 more weekends?
At any rate, this car is incredible. And the wait is worth it.

Reminds me of the line from the Robert Palmer song:
"Mellow Yellow, Pepper white: each and every MINIs the same inside. Ooh it takes every kind of scuttle - to make the world go round."
