I got DSC because inevitably my girl will have to drive my car at some point. It might not be very often, but it probably will happen. Living in Seattle with the wet roads, and then driving up to the mountains for snowboarding, I'll feel much more comfortable knowing my mini has DSC for her.

I personally don't plan on using it all that often. I'm sure the hill assist will come in handy, as I'm getting a stick. I know how to drive it and don't stall out, but I can roll back pretty far some times.

Plus, it'll help resale if you decide to sell in the future.

I bought a floor model. The only thing I wish it came with is the fold-in sideview mirrors. It had the premium and cold weather packages, stripes on the bonnet, rear spoiler, gray/carbon black leatherette sport seats.

Dealer threw in the checkerboard graphics on the sunroof and mirrors because I said I didn't like the way it stood out against the white roof. Have had no problems with it; hasn't leaked and we've had some heavy rains in past year, hasn't gotten stuck in high heat either.

Heres my opinions

we got one off the floor with no armrest and being a stick i need something to rest my arm on

dont waste ur money on the HIFI system you can get an aftermarket setup with the same money that will sound 1000x better (im in chicago as well and if you are considering this let me know im more then willing to help ya out)

as far as the ipod etc goes I found it to be overpriced and picked out a car that just had the aux jack and im wiring in a cable to the aux with a dock connector for charging and sound and will be controllin my tunes from the ipod which is the way i like it, i find the interfaces to be too slow. This leaves my aux jack open and charges my ipod and it cost me 30-35 dollars or so

Euro-Armrest here or here mine is great!

(compared to standard 'little' slide top version.)

Aprox 12" x 4.5" and behind parking brake handle.

I love the sport package and the 17" wheels. I am very happy with the DSC and LSD and that may be important in Chicago for you.

I would probably skip the armrest - the top slide is always sliding and opening on me when I use it. But that is hardly a significant matter.

im not sure if anyone answered this yet... but it can take 6-8 weeks. and if you live in CA it can take a little longer because of shipping. I've heard of people waiting months... So you'd have to talk to a dealer

Thanks for the color, Autopilot. I have some thinking to do.

In my state, the tinting restrictions are a bit greater than in CA. Driver & passenger fronts can't be tinted.

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NH/

And since I'm planning on using the forward SR as a way to see stop lights from my driving position, something tells me limo tint might be a wee bit dark. Maybe I'll come up with something creative.

I'm glad I didn't order the armrest.

I'm sorry I didn't order the auto-dimming rear view mirror.

You asked how long it takes to get your MINI......... when I ordered mine I was told 6 weeks. It was 6 weeks + 1 day. You probably already know that you can check progress on the Owner's Lounge in MINIUSA.COM or Ask Mini. But the status reported in the Owner's Lounge notoriously lags behind actual progress. Ask Mini is more current, if you want day-to-day reports (as most of us did).

I'm glad I didn't get rear fog lights. I think they look bad in the rear valence. The all black look is much cleaner. I know the majority of people here think the opposite, but then again, I don't like the majority of furniture in people's houses or the majority of clothes they wear.

I like my armrest. I wasn't looking for a filing cabinet. It's a good place to hold my phone and money clip if I don't want to take them with me to the beach or some other place and i like having something there for my elbow versus having an empty space.

Thanks, Rich
I am in Canada and use Telus, so an HTC-6700 which is a windows mobile device seems to work just fine. It imports the address book just fine, that is amazing since it syncs with my email and dumps in several hundred contacts.

It does seem to choke occasionally and not bind, but it is usually the phones falt not the cars.

Even more why does he regret sunroof, I cant even sit in a Mini w/o a sunroof it feels so claustrophobic, even with its faults its the biggest must have IMHO.

I feel the same way. I want the sunroof to open things up but I've been reading about a lot of people having problems with them sticking when it's hot outside. I hope mine ends up being ok.

i regret comfort because the "push button" door opening is nearly useless and the snapin adapters are limited, expensive, and it is pretty much a 150 dollar charger that hooks up to your antenna? i have full reception everywhere....

i regret the hifi because it suxxx the big one

and i regret sunroof cuz its not tinnted, it doesnt work properly, and most importantly, i like the wya it looks without it, i realize i damn near never use it....

I got my car off the floor. I'm pretty happy with my stuff. I had wanted cold weather, but no biggie and I heard the seats get too hot (I hated that in my Jeep). I don't use the BT much, but it works great. The sunroof is great for the lighting (I don't live where it's too hot otherwise I'd tint it). I think the stereo sound fine. Having unknowns take my doors apart and mess with the wiring always bothered me, if I knew somebody I'd mess with the 2 door speakers.

Folding mirrors do come in handy though...

I thought it was because you like to keep your butt warm during those oh so cold mornings in West Covina

#1 must-do--Rear fog lights. Otherwise, the blank spot on the toggle switch panel will drive you bonkers!

#1 don't--factory armrest. Get an aftermarket model.

Future consideration for hot climates--ceramic window tint for windows and sunroof.
