Ordering today....Wooo Hoooo!

I'm stoked...my FIRST Mini

MCS, Manual, Sport, Premium, Crown Spokes, Lightning Blue w/Black roof & stripes.....

Looks like 8 weeks of agony....just like in my old BMW European Delivery days.....

I'm still a little conflicted about the sunroof....I'd rather save the $1,000 but thinking of re-sale more than my sunburned scalp......

WOOOT: UPDATE: I've got a production number for Week 25 (sometime in June)

Did your dealer tell you it would be 8 weeks? I certainly hope mine is here in 4. But I'm impatient.

*goes to hit redial on 866-ASK-MINI*

Damn, still waiting for production.

Congrats! Sounds like a sweet ride.

Hope time flies for you. Actually, it's a wonder that a MINI owner awaiting delivery hasn't come up with a way of speeding up the space-time continuum.

You know, after 3 European deliveries it just doesn't get easier. I will still be watching the Panama Canal webcams (like a damned fool) looking for the ship that carries my baby....

Which car carrier company does Mini use? Same as BMW?? (NYK Lines?)

They use Wallenius-Wilhelmsen...at least they did on my R56 in March.

Seperate point: I wish MINI would do a Euro-Delivery program. Would be awesome to drive your MINI over in Europe before it comes to the states!

Given the slim margins I'd bet that if they DID offer Euro Delivery it would be a $500-1000 add-on fee.....which many would gladly pay! Come to think of it, maybe they have thought of this and decided against since too many Americans might crash their cars driving on the "wrong side" of the road.

Now, if you could pick them up in Munich....that would be a different story!!

We hardly ever used it on our 325csi.
It just takes away head room.
I'm sure some potential buyers might think the same.

ACTUALLY, due to contract issues, you CAN do a delivery in Europe...BUT....(they always have that other shoe to drop!)

YOu have to drive for a minimum of 500-600 miles, and then detail the vehicle beyond spotless for shipment (customs) out of Europe. The 500 miles isn't too tough, at least for Mini owners! Most folks (military from my experience) order their cars at the last minute, not realizing they have to meet these requirements, and thinking they can get a brand-spanking new car (no miles) shipped from Europe w/ the European discount. HA. THen they have to do whirlwind trips back and forth to get the milage in in time.

Hello, Markus

Welcome to the NAMily and CONGRATS on your new MINI

Also welcome to the San Diego family of MINIs. A large number of us motor together in a club called West Coast MINIs. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in getting together. I'll explain how to get access to our boards and fill you in on upcoming events.

Also, might be cutting it really close on your delivery day....but a herd of us are heading to MITM3 in August....a beautiful drive to break-in your new baby.

I wonder why it has to have 500-600 miles on it? Is it for tax purposes?

Markus, hopefully it will be less than 8 weeks. We thought the same for our MINI, but So far it has taken about a month. Ordered 5/16, in transit 5/27, at port of destination, today!. Hopefully yours will take the same or maybe 1-1.5 weeks longer. BMW also uses K-Line shipping company too. If your MINI is on K-Line, you won't be able to track it like the W.W. ships.

Really? I haven't heard any thing about this...I work at a MINI dealer too . Plus, I was just at the factory 2 months ago and they said nothing about it when some people asked. They said they were looking into it and not to rule it out as possible in the future, but that they simply had too many other things on the burner, that Euro Delivery was on the back.

I ordered two weeks ago and the car is now in production. Didn't order the sunroof to save on money. Now have regrets. So order that sunroof! Of course, there are a number of other options I chose not to get. So the plan is this will be my first mini and in 3 years I'll upgrade. Starter mini?

I think the travel time through the Panama Canal adds about 2 weeks to the transit time vs the East coast ports....at least this was true with BMW.

If you tell them to redirect it to Spartanburg, SC, I'll drive it to you from the VDC... all it'll cost you is fuel and a plane ticket for me back home... And just think, the break in will already be done when you get it!

Yeah, unfortunately, the only place I've heard about this deal is through those Mini dealerships associated with the Military Sales Program...usually overseas anyway, but still available to those eligible -- like people visiting Europe. As for why it's 500-600 miles...not sure. I think that's to ensure no shady business abusing the deals -- like buying it to resell as a new car. The deals are pretty good...both my husband & I purchased two sets of cars (four total) from them...two BMW (330i and 335i) and my '04 and '07 MCS. Anyway..,

Lucky, I get no such deal. Just straight MSRP. Guess they realized I wasn't going to drive one home from Charlotte. Oh well. It's just money, right?

Markus, Week 25 is June 16 - 21st, so it should hit production next week.
