I have the stock all season tires, and they are reading 30 psi. They tires say don't go over 47. I looked in the manual, but there's like 30 pages on tire pressure. Can someone please tell me a reasonable tire pressure for me? I commute 100 miles a day and it's mostly just myself in the cars.
My dealer guy says put them at 38psi, I have the Dunlops in the 16's. Made sense to me since I am a motorcycle guy and everyone always says these cars are 'crotch-rockets' with seating for 4...
I run the max 38 PSI cold for better fuel economy on my 17" Dunlop runflats. With gas prices going up on a weekly basis now I want to save as much as possible.
Keep in mind that grip tends to go down as pressure goes up. For me, the small increase in fuel economy doesn't outweigh the loss in grip should I need to stop or corner suddenly. Just my two cents.
Ah I wasn't aware there was a sticker there. I have the all season Continentals, 16" wheels, and it recommends 38. I checked my pressure yesterday and it was at 30. Looks like I need some air...but why the hell would they be so low? I've had the car for about a month.
possible they were not "pumped up" properly before delivery.
Get that pressure up, your mpg will go up a few i'm sure, especially with 100 miles traveled a day. 30 is pretty low.
