How Much Do They Weigh?
I have a Mini brochure booklet from the dealer, the Mini Cooper S is listed at around 2,6xx lbs. I looked at the curb weight for a few of the hardtops in the showroom today and according to the sticker in the driver side door jamb not one of them was less than 3,4xx lbs.. ? Even with a full tank and a 200 lb driver I can't see the car weighing that much, what gives?

Grassroots Motorsports weighed their R56 MCS during its project-car stint, and it came in at 2558 pounds with 2/3rds tank of fuel.
That door jamb sticker is for "Gross Vehicle Weight" [which is fully loaded]. This differs from "Unladen Weight" [which is with a driver, fuel, and luggage], and "Curb Weight" [which is dry w/no passengers or luggage].

According to Edmunds.com
curb weight: MC - 2546 MCS - 2844
gross weight: MC - 3362 MCS - 3616
A gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is the maximum allowable total weight of a road vehicle or trailer that is loaded, including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight.
Curb (kerb) weight is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables (such as motor oil and coolant), a full tank of fuel, and not loaded with either passengers or cargo.
And all of those numbers are a bit chubby for something calling itself a mini.

True....and some Cooper's, too (depending on wheel/tire option selected). My '03 Cooper hit some road debris (I wasn't driving) the other day and gashed open the sidewall. Tire was instantly gone....I was glad to have a traditional spare.

Guess this little hidden spare was just a 1st gen thing?
