Can a MINI Cooper be ordered in a custom color that is not regularly offered?

Hello,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Andy. I am new to this forum. I joined because I am contemplating possibly purchasing a Mini in the near future and was told that this site is great for info on the car. I was wondering, is it possible to order a Mini in a custom color that is not regularly offered? I have this crazy idea of making a modern version of Mr. Bean's Mini. As such, it would need to be lime green in color. I was thinking of purchasing one in this color and then have a third party paint part of the hood in black, just like the car in the show. I just think it would be cool to have a modern version of the car. I wonder also if anyone else out there has already done this. If so, I would love to see a picture of their car.

Best regards to all,
Andy

I do not think MINI offers a paint to sample option. Call MINI USA 1-866-ASK-MINI I think is the number. They can tell you if this is possible.

MINI won't do it, but I'm thinking of going "custom" on my next MINI as well ~ since MINI doesn't seem to think WHITE is a good color offering.

I think an Alpine White MINI would be stunning....if I have to order Pepper White and have a custom white done upon delivery, then so be it.

Survey say, No Way, Jose!
They're offering certain colors according to the trim line, no exceptions.

What woud an after market paint job cost you?
Resale is an issue with an off the wall color.

Tig, I think pepper white is smoking hot. I traded in an alpine white BMW conv for my Mini.

"Factory Quality" paint job - ballpark $4500 - $5000, but the sky is the limit when it comes to custom paint. It's not unusual to go to car shows and inquire about the custom paint work and be told it ran from $8K - $10K.

MINI should consider more paint options if they are really proud to offer 10 million combos. Why don't they offer 20 more colors for $2K option?

Maybe you'd do better to vinyl wrap the car than to paint it.

Gee, back in the old days (50's), Porsche offered any color you wanted, as long as you provided the paint. I can't remember how many quarts they required, but it wasn't much. Avon ladies even had pink Porsches back then...

Still can do...

You just have to order paint to sample, it takes about 6 months more and costs about $4500.

Porsche is the company of paint options...

Let's see if you want metallic... $750 except on the turbo is included(ok that's normal to charge for metallic for most companies)

Special colours (colours from previous years that are not that popular)...$3500 I have ordered this one on a car and was pissed the next year it became a $750 colour option.

paint to sample $4500 (I think, might be a little more or less). Just incase you want to order a bubble gum pink porsche to match your hair.

show finish(hand rubbed paint) $8000 on top of what ever option you already picked...

So you can order paint to sample hand rubbed for about $12,500 to the top of your car... just a typical porsche al la carte kinda thing... They aren't the most profitible car company in the world per unit for nothing.

Although I wouldn't want one of my own (too much cleaning!), that's a pretty car! I like the white rims on the hard top better than the black on the cabrio....

Oh, and yes - listen to these paint-smart people...I even asked if I could get a metalic Night Fire Red paint job on an MCS, and they wouldn't do it...it's a MC only color.

It's not so easy to paint to order. If it was then we would see other companies offering such an option. As it stands now I think only the following offer custom paint to match. Porsche. Ferrari, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley and I'd imagine a few others of the same ilk. If it was something that could easily be done all companies would offer a bespoke or paint to match option. It would be an easy profit center.

There are very few car companies that offer as many paint options as Mini. Look at the Asian brand cars, if you're lucky you may get 6-8 color choices. For the most part it seems European car companies offer more choices.

Nice article, except for the orange.
Orange should only be a lingerie color and highway warning signs.

I really wanted Nightfire Red in Cooper S. I called everyone, MiniUSA , Mini oxford, and BMW. Answer: No.

All i wanted was a color they already make just on and S.

I at least got them to say they would not offer it in the S for anytime in 07 or 08 so that was good enough.

Gee, wouldn't it be easier just to go to Earl Sheib?

I was looking for the proper spelling, and came across this:

Right, look at VW offers for colors on their GTI? Four colors: White, black, red and dark silver, that's it.

There are 2 custom painted Pink Minis in Hawaii. Word on the street is that they are $10k paint jobs.

Quick Reply: R56 Can a MINI Cooper be ordered in a custom color that is not regularly offered?
