I know... I thought about removing them but it's the official NASA patch (no, it's not copyrighted - I asked) and I wanted to keep it as authentic as possible.

Oh, wait wait, I know what it is now... One of two things...
1) The MINI is an emergency set of wheels in case any of the gear doesn't come down...
or
2) The MINI is a chase vehicle (Oh how fun that'd be...). At a landing speed of 225 mph though, you may need a few upgrades to keep up
