R56 Cars American's Love Best

Most conclusions from data are suspect, and single-source journalism is the most suspect of all. I am dubious of the CNN piece. And not having MINI in the compact sporty category, well, that shoots the whole thing in the foot, doesn't it?

It's the automotive version of gerrymandering!! If you desperately want a certain car to win so you can write about it, move the car that really won into a neighboring district.
With this technique, we should be able to make the Pontiac Aztec beat out Masarati and Aston Martin in the high luxury performance category.

Funny, when I was looking to buy a car I looked at the Mini and the GTI ...The cars are so similar in many ways that It makes no sense to put them in the different categories (GTI got 1st in Sport Compact and Mini in Compact).
The journalist(s) who wrote this probably aren't "car people" and are just sourcing their information from very generic car sites. This is so typical of these kinds of surveys and such... they usually don't mean anything to anyone ..they don't really say much of anything.
...I notice that American's seem to love German and Japanese cars best. I think I see only about 3 American car awards and only one at #1.

I love how the classifications are so random, it makes no sense.
ie:
What makes a sub compact a sub compact, every car on the their list is bigger than a Mini.
How can an FJ cruiser, a CX7, and a Nissan Rogue all be in the same category, they are nowhere near the same size, or similar in any way.
How does the Cooper S not make the performance compact catogory, and the Saturn Sky, and Scion tc do, do the people who take this survey actually drive cars?
As pointed out how does the Doge Magnum get a number one rating, and get discontinued.
How does the G35 not make the list in entry level Premium, but the IS does.
Just some food for thought.

Horrible article.
Somehow in the truck segment, the Ford F-Series doesn't get a mention, yet its one of the best selling automobile in the country, if not the best
Lexus IS series over 3 series? Not sure i buy that one either
But always good to see Mini get some recognition.
