OMG! Thought I was the only one that enjoyed the soundtrack to that movie! ;P

Hmm, surprised no one has really touched on any symphonic/classical music. Let's see what else:

Imperial March - Williams (Star Wars)
The Asteroid Field - Williams (Empire Strikes Back)
Ride of the Valkyries - Wagner
William Tell Overture - Rossini

And lest you think I'm a classical music snob:

I Can't Drive 55 - Sammy Hagar
I Drove All Night - Cindy Lauper
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cindy Lauper
Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd
Someone to Love - Boogie Pimps
CCCP - American Soviets
Love Is Only a Feeling - The Darkness (My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel)
Never Let Me Down Again - Depeche Mode
Electric Avenue - Eddie Grant
Life (feature NaNa) - E-type
The Way - Fastball
Atomic Dog - George Clinton & Parliament
Slow Ride - Fog Hat
Lunatic Fringe - Red Rider
Longsight M13 - Ian Brown
How to Be Invisible - Kate Bush
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
So Alive - Love and Rockets
Paradise by the Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf
In the Summertime - Mungo Jerry
Hotride - The Prodigy
I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred
Storm - Storm
Straight Ahead - Tube & Berger (feat. Chrissy Hynde)
Ride With Me - The Vines
Duke of Earl - Gene Chandler
South Side - Moby

And I second the vote on Benny Goodman's Sing, Sing, Sing. That's one of my favorite ever tunes.

Well...taking delivery next week (fingers crossed) and when I first test drove and learned that the vinyl (which i have to get b/c vegetarian & don't wear/buy leather) was called "leatherette" made plans to make sure the mp3 was loaded with The Normals' "Warm Leatherette"!! Being in Memphis I have a feeling I'll have days when it is a bit more tham warm though!!! hehe

But the rest....gotta love drum & bass and turn it WAY up (spent the extra $ on the speakers , right?!?!)
Unfinished Symphony - Massive Attack
Centepod - Noisia
Magia Negra - Juju
Ready for this - Aquasky & Ragga Twins
Cicada - Justin Martin
Gutter Punk - Noisia

And I have a feeling that I will not get half-way through the list before the boys in blue pull my butt over!!!

The Virgin Suicides score by French downtempo/electronica duo AIR. So good, and it feels like you are in a movie while driving!

Love music, great thread...

I can't believe no one has mentioned Allman Brothers! Perfect driving music. Also most of the upbeat Grateful Dead stuff if you are into that. Widespread is IMO similar the Allman Brothers in the sense that the old stuff is good long sustained jams that are not rambling/boring.

Of course I have to agree with the Chili Peppers (old stuff) and Talking Heads or anything David Byrne. Arcade Fire also good for building up momentum

Anyone see that Infiniti commercial w/ Elvis Costello a few years ago?

When motoring, I listen mostly to Evanescence and Within Temptation these days. Goth grabs me right now.

CKY is the best driving music in my opinion. I actually got into my only accident (not in my MINI...) whilst listening to them, and then after that I was nervous for a while...but no problems now.

If you'er gonna go and just motor on the highways:The long Run CD. The Eagles
If you want something to help you get your heart pumping (like we need any help when we have Mini's), try: The ace of spades , Motorhead.

There is just something about that theme that evokes MINI motoring. Delighted you like it. I played it this morn on the way to the Park N Ride, as a matter of fact.

Ready?

Girl Talk.

New album released in 2008, Feed The Animals. This is AMAZING MUSIC. Girl Talk, aka Greg Gillis, is a "mashup" DJ, sampling 30-40 modern pop songs per track, creating something entirely new. It really is a fresh sound, even if you don't listen to the radio/pop music (like me). This music does two things: 1) keeps you on your toes listening/trying to recognize the next sample, and 2) makes you want to DANCE. Check out the link above, you can download the album for free (name your price sort of thing, like Radiohead). It is SO GOOD.

Ok Big for this one. I was skeptical but wow this is just awesome! You can listen to the whole album on myspace and then download it for free if you want.

Great find prixdc!

WOW this is a wide open subject, with all answers being correct.

I've been listening to music and lots of it for a long time........like since seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show.

So this time of year, summer, and headed to the beach it's gotta be
JImmy Buffett one of my long time favorites or................
Kansas Leftoverture
Pink Floyd dark side of the moon
Dan Fogelberg any
Rich Mullens any
Doobie Brothers "What were once vices are now habits"

and the list goes on and on.....................
cant forget the Allman Brothers and Skynard..........

The Mini is undeniably History Repeating, so for me it's Propellerheads - Decksandrumsandrockandroll, particularly "History Repeating" sung by Shirley Bassey!

Actually the whole CD... CRANK--IT--UP!
