The Official "Driving Music" Forum

Had my mini for a week now and I am always finding an excuse to go out and motor!

Today I got an ipod nano to hook up to the mini and downloaded all my music and when the wife asked me to head out to the store for some things we needed you know I said "NO PROBLEM".

So the ipod was ready and I headed out. I was thinking what a great thread it would be to have us post some of our favorite driving tunes all while listening to a great one which is now my favorite while driving the mini @ night.

So my favorite late night song to drive to in the mini is:

Pearl Jam - Of the Girl

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with and I hope to find some new tunes as well through here.

Great thread.
I would have to say anything by Gov't Mule or Umphrey's Mcgee is what I use. But if I had to pick one I think it would be
Mule by Gov't Mule
Can't wait to hear from everyone else

Ugh. I wish I was there.

I heard 'do it again' when it was pre-released to some popular Radio DJ in the UK

I don't remember his name but I fell in LOVE with the song. Even a couple minutes ago when I was coming home in a bad mood I listened to it and it just pumped me up. Then again most of their songs do that =P

I want to remix that song sooo baddd!

Sorry-Didn't want to hijack >_>

I play CDs in my MINI. Keep listening till one is done because as a rule, with my morning commute to the Park N Ride, I hear 2 or 3 songs on any given run, ditto for going to Scout meetings or running quick errands.

Favorites are Evanescence, then greatest hits of The Who, The Clash, David Bowie, various Beatles compilations, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" which I plug in for longer trips, greatest hits of Blondie, The Doors, the B-52s and now just found a cool group called Within Tempation which has been out for years; also Thelonius Monk and Mingus;
favorite tune is theme from The Avengers (also use as cellphone ring).

Currently listening to:

Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare (highly recommended!)
The Presets - Apocalypso

Some other suggestions:

Avon - Queens of the Stone Age
In My Head - Queens of the Stone Age
The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret - QOTSA
Hell, most anything from QOTSA is good driving music
Ridge Racer 6 soundtrack - Disco Ball!

Jorgen Ingman and his Guitar - Zorba
Benny Goodman - Sing Sing Sing (Live at Carnegie Hall 1938)
Captian Beefheart - Sure Nuff Yes I Do
The Jesus Lizard - Nub
The Kinks - Victoria
The Modern Lovers - Roadrunner (yeah, it's about a Plymouth. it's still the best car song ever. The Jazz Butcher's version will work, too)
Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive
The Ramones - California Sun
Canned Heat - Going up Country (It gives me tickets, though)

Wow, I could go on all night...

The wife thinks that the record to listen to in the MINI is The John Spencer Blues Explosion - Orange. I think its because both are pretty bouncy. I'm not gonna argue.

I'm across most of the board with my listening pleasures. I listen to pop, rock, and country. I have Journey's new CD slotted with their new singer, who I love since Steve Perry won't get off his high horse and come back to the band.

My choices are pretty varied but here's the usual:

Smashing Pumpkins
MC Chris
Weird Al Yankovic
Various Trance/Techno

And occasionally I'll listen to spoken word comedy by Lewis Black and Henry Rollins.
