Judging by the article they must have turned back before reaching the end of the Dragon since they managed only 311 turns out of the 318.

 

any uncrowded, well-maintained Wyoming state highway...

 

Mountain View rd., Hwy. 1 to Boonville in Northern Ca. is a keeper. On a weekday you can do the whole stretch and not see another vehicle. The pavement is good, but some turns are unforgiving to the sole that doesn't recon it first. Driving off a mountain is a possibility..

I was almost hit by a 2' wide rock that tumbled down Tuna in dry, sunny weather. Be very, very careful on that road.
