Sept: The start of 2009 model production

I was informed by my MA today that when their build slot allocation comes in at the end of this month, the cars will be 2009 model year with production slated to start the first week of Sept. He also did not forsee a HUGE price increase because the big changes for R56 are slated for 2010 model year.

happened like this back in 2004 when I ordered my R53-- when I placed my deposit it was for a 2004 model, but the waits were so long it ended up being a 2005 by order and delivery time.

My dealer is Ralph Schomp in denver, one of the outlying neglected no one cares out in the wilderness mountain time zone dealers far removed from the dealership density of CA and the east.

I dont even think they know what's in store for 09, let alone 2010.

Hey sequence, what was the month build of your '05? I know that you have had a 'few' issues with your car. We have a July '04 build '05 model in the household, and it has also had its 'fair' share of issues.

Looks like some MINIs are MY2009 even earlier. I have a week 32 (2nd week August) production number for a 09 JCW.

Leftlane News said a price increase was expected, but is unknown how much. But BMW is raising prices about 3% so MINI increases might be comparable.

BMW also just dropped the finance rates to 0.9% for 60 months and the money factors on leases dropped a good bit too....so yeah.

Man I hope MINI FS drops rates in the next month. That would be great for me (although MINI doesn't need any sales incentives right now).

Don't be so sure about prices, MINI Coopers are Europe made cars and with the way the dollar is doing we could see a price increase, this same thing happen to Volvo, I know because I was inline to get one, then they cranked up the price almost 2k I said naaaaaa, to much money for a Volvo C30.
The reason for the price increase was the Dollar, they had no real changes for that car in the 09 version.

So who knows, I hope is not the same for the MINI, but lets be prepare.

My 08 MCSm is week 32 build, which carries me to 2nd week of sept.

Would you guys wait and get 09 model??? i dont know what to do. I bet my car would be technically be 2009 but just produced on their last batch. What should i do?? Astro black is being discontinued for 2009 and i wonder what the new Black would be? I dont mind having a different "black" color....

Just get it man, why wait, the car is perfect, I think I'll be more happy to have a late model than a brand new model that you don't know what could go wrong with it. R56 up to 08 have been "almost" problem free. I would just get a 08 and enjoy it. They are already saying 09s will not have that many changes. That's what I did and I can't be more happy with my 08 MCS!

Personally I would try to avoid having a car built near August as that is the preferred month for vacation.

Im just gonna keep the 08 order. Freaking 2 month wait. Ridiculous.

My M3 was ordered back in 04 during the summer. DUring that time, i think Euro Soccer was going on or FIFA.. something like that.. and there was a slight delay on production of my order... If there are reasons for "vacation" or "summer break" or whatever it is... i guess American auto manufactures like Ford or GMC would suffer the Monday and Friday production car... Monday cuz they have hang-over and Friday cuz everyone wants to go home for the weekend... maybe that's why Ford has so many RECALLS on their cars/trucks.

By waiting one or two months for an MY09, you may obtain an extra $1-$2k when it comes time to sell it!

I wanted an 09 so bad, since 9 is my lucky number [I know, I'm crazy]. But, now that I have my Lucy, there is no way I could have waited longer to get her.

You may also have to spend as much more to buy it, we don't know that yet, hope not, but who knows for sure....

Second week of August 2004. But then I know folks who have late Aug 04 build cars that are approaching 80K with no issues other than a shiiteload of rattles and squeaks. So it's a crapshoot.

Nope, just like 04-05 I have to pay the price increase, but that's no big deal. What is a big deal is that Im being pressured to give up my car NOW (in escrow) to lock in the impressive trade $$$$$ they offered me. I wanted to wait until I at least had a production number to turn it over, and my MA backed me here, but the manager is playing hardball.

Reason is they are desperate for used cars. Last I heard, they only had one used car on the lot. Im going in today to talk to the manager, so I'll use his desperation as my trump card.

See previous posts about early 05 builds (July, Aug, and Sept 2004).

My MA told me that some of the 09 packages would not be as good as the 08 in regards to value for money.

Really? Are you trading in your old mini?? Or something else?
